Has anyone heard what the next celebration is when year of a million dreams ends this year? I just noticed that Mickey will be 80 and wondered if they would do something around that. We are going in the fall next year ,but I am already thinking about it.:yay:

Really excited too find out what the new designs on the Paper cups, plates, napkins, and Snow Globes will be uh? Outside of those things...and I'm really asking here...whats the difference in these marketing "celebrations"? :confused3 :confused3

Jim Hill reported on a recent Podcast (I can't remember which one) that Disney will be going away from the year-long "celebrations" for the next little while. Instead they will be focusing on long lasting or permanent promotions. This will likely include the continuation of former and current popular promotions (for example, the "Dream Squad" CMs have already been retained for next year, so that will likely still be around). Sometimes Jim Hill is spot on, sometimes not, but this one makes sense to me.

I've heard in a couple of places that they're keeping the "dream squad." They've also closed the Disney Gallery in Disneyland and are renovating it into an in-the-park suite like the one in Cinderella's castle in WDW, so I'd imagine that they will continue to give away nights there.

Isn't there a certain rodent who becomes an octogenarian next year? Mind you, this is irrelevant as he has yet to star in a Pixar feature but still...

I'll be glad to have this annual cycle of sham promotions run its course if that's what indeed is happening.

The one in 2000 for the Millenium was pretty cool as Illuminations got a fresh look that has lasted and they got a good parade at Epcot, though that didnt last. But since then, all others have been sorta bleak in comparison. The 100 years of Magic created a couple of cool things. But none of the others realy left any kind of lasting impression.

Did they do anything when Mickey turned 70? WDW is due for a quiet time to retrench.... I'd rather see something spectacular like the Millenium celebration than the also rans they've had since. Let the Dreams continue and let them take some time to do something really big.

That said it would be nice if they had a festival in early January using AK or MGM.
