I got this in the mail the other day and sat down to watch it.

What an improvement over the 2006 version! Not that the 2006 version was bad or anything.. but wow.

There was one cast member from Expedition Everest telling a story about how met this one child and the child remembered him by name the next day.

As the kid was getting strapped into the ride, the child asked this other CM if he knew "Stephen" and the CM said "Yes, I work with Stephen, he's a friend of mine."

And the kid says... "Stephen is my friend too.."

Just that story had tears welling in my eyes. The whole DVD is filled with CM stories.. (Gosh I hope they're real.. I'd be really disappointed to find out they were scripted.. :)

has anyone else watched this -- what'd you think?

I have to agree with you too. This year's planning DVD is wayyyyyyy better than last years. I love the way they have the CM's involved and the kids section is just great.:wizard:

We just booked our trip to Disney. We'll be staying at the BWV. Will Disney automatically send you the vacation planning DVD, or do I have to ask for one?:confused3

Well put...we liked the 2006 DVD but found the hosts got very annoying very quickly (except for the dude who loved the benches...he was a riot IMHO). on the other hand, the 2007 version had none of that. We also loved the touching CM stories and thought that they really conveyed what "Disney magic" is all about. :goodvibes

The production values this year were much higher and YES.. the hosts were MUCH less annoying overall...

I tend to like all the videos and am glad when they change them up a bit from year to year instead of just recycling last years and using the same narrator, etc.

Oh yah the narrator was AWESOME this year. Really awesome.

It was OK, I suppose! Just a little to sweet for my enjoyment. Regardless of your opinion of last years actors, it certainly had more excitement and energy than the new one. It struck me as being more like an advertisement for Shady Pines Retirement Home.

It really is directed at one's soft spot but I was having a little problem believing the stories to the letter. Seemed a bit of a stretch to me but I am a lifelong grump so doubt comes natural. I congratulate them on achieving the "dream like" surreal aspect that was obviously intentional to support the "Dream come true" campaign.

Like I said, it wasn't awful, just a bit over the top in the warm and fuzzy department to be totally believable to me.

I must be another grump. I like last year's better but I'm glad others enjoy this one.

The one thing I didn't like about 2007 vs 2006.. was that it seemed the 2006 DVD had more info on the individual resorts.

Or maybe that was just how I remember it.

I'm going to put in my request for this today! I hadn't bothered since I was unimpressed w/ the last 2 DVDs. They jumped around too much. Sure, for us veterans you could pick up on things, but for a newbie, it was just sensory overload. I thought they were terrible. This new one sounds intriguing....

The 2007 DVD is much different than the 2006 one. I like both but the 2006 one seemed to flow better IMO.

I, too, must be grump. I'm sentimental but I do not like the "gag me with a spoon" type stories. OK ... then WHY do I read those "Chicken Soup for the Soul" books. I don't know ... I like to torture myself? ... OK ... got off topic there.

I think the DVDs are fun and exciting no matter what. Can't wait until next years and I wish I had a few from the past!! :thumbsup2

I loved the 2007 version, as well. It really got at the heart of the magic...the people sharing their dream was clever....would really reel me in if I didn't have a vacation planned or had never been there!

Why don't they put more pictures or info in on the resorts? I'd love to see more info, especially because we've tried out new resorts in the past two years.

Me too. I have one older vhs tape from maybe 1999 or 2000. It mentions things like River Country, the "brand new Pooh ride" and AKL hadn't been built yet. I think that's interesting from a nerdy Disneyphile perpective (which is what I have). I'd like to see some of the older ones too.

Maybe somebody has put them on Youtube.

I guess to each his own, because I really don't like the new planning DVD. I try to imagine if I was a newbie who had never been before....that DVD does not give you enough info about the rides themselves. For us pro's its touching in some parts, but a little too sappy for me. I miss Dave!:sad1:

I haven't ordered mine yet, but am planning to soon.

I've always enjoyed the planning videos, but a few years back, they used the same actors 2 years in a row. It was this annoying guy saying how great everything was. I really wish they would use real people!
