Am I right when I read that the new theme will be something like the Year of a Million Wishes, or something like that? Where some lucky winners get special, lottery like prizes. That doesnt seem very exciting. I went in Aug with my 5 and 2 year old girls for Cinderellabration and meals with the princesses. We had a ball; wanted to go back. But it seems like the focus next year won't really be princess oriented. Anyone know of any new princess happenings going on?

They'll still have meals with the princesses, as well as meet & greets. It's just that one show that they won't be doing anymore. I can't imagine Disney not focusing on princesses - that stuff is everywhere!! :sunny:

Actually, the last celebration wasn't focused on princesses. It was called the Happiest Celebration on Earth.

Princesses are always at DW.

I feel what you mean. My DD is 6 so we are BIG into that stuff still. I kind of feel like the trip can go in any direction that you make it. For us, it is very girly (poor DH).

There was no focus on princesses any more then usual last year. The Cinderellabration was pretty lame IMO. I am happy they are having this contest! I will be there during the start of it and can't wait.

We felt a bit more focus on Princesses last year...but then we have 2 (soon to be 3) sons so things like the castle show going from being lots of characters including Mickey and co., Princesses and Peter Pan and Hook etc. to being all princess all the time...that was a biggie for my kids. They were none too happy about that change. There has always been more princess stuff than boy stuff but it seemed last year the princess stuff really sort of expanded. :confused3

Actually, each park got something new. MK happened to be Cinderellabration.

Epcot got Soarin'
MGM got the LMA stunt show
AK got Expedition Everest

The other 3 aren't definitely not princess or girlie things.

I know the HCOE wasn't ALL about princesses, just saying I can understand where someone would say that it had a princess focus, that's all. I get what it was about...the 50th of DL, sharing "the best" of each park etc. Just as a Mom with sons who enjoyed the castle show before when they see it and their faces fall and they say "why is that all princesses now too?" in addition to the Princess room at Toontown, seeing friends do the boutique thing etc. it felt to us like they added some extra focus on princesses. Not just because of HCOE, because the princesses are a multi billion dollar draw for them...but my kids did notice more princess stuff.

AK got Expedition Everest

Actually, EE is just a new attraction but not part of the HCOE. AK's addition for HCOE was Lucky the Dinosaur. ;) We'd have LOVED to have seen Lucky but he left not too long before the first of our trips during HCOE. :( We keep hoping he'll come back sometime! :)
