2007 DVC Member Cruise - SSMC07 - October 21, 2007

I also forgot that the chat was on Friday nights. I haven't been surfing hardly at all to see what's going on, so if I don't do to a particular thread, I am totally out of the loop. Many things just haven't gotten my attention lately. Less things for me to do, bother and worry about. Is that called the "simple" life?? :3dglasses

Yesterday I didn't get out of my PJ's. But I have to do a couple of chores today, so I will abandon them shortly.

Joannel: my son will be coming home from Iraq in about 7 weeks or so and they have a house in AL, just over the AL line off 10. I'll be driving up there and I'll be in your area. They still own a house there and Ft. Rucker is not a deployment base, and that is where they will end it when he comes home. This is his 3rd deployment in Iraq and he has 21 years in so I would say he sure has served him time. Every time a chopper goes down we hold our breath until we hear from him. Really is nerve racking.

Hope everyone has a great day. Pray for rain for us - we need it badly

When I put the chat ad up on Friday's I'll try and remember to post it in the thread too so everyone remembers. In the past we had so many member cruisers in chat that we'd go and get our own room.

Kay I'm glad your son will be coming home soon. I can't imagine what it must be like to have the worry of a loved one over there. A great big thank you to all the service men and women serving us all over the world.

Kay that is great news. I hope he stays safe for the next seven weeks. Is this the son who lives in Hawaii?Where in Al will you be? If you come down this way let me know. We can meet for lunch on dinner on the beach. We are between Navarre & Ft walton. My husband did 25 years in the Aif Force. We have lots of friends who still deploy, so we keep all deployed in our prayers. We are 3 miles from Hurlburt, so we still attend Mass there weekly. My DH still works there as a contractor.

I don't know how you do it, my 21 year old has friends over there. Is was bad when our husbands go, but our kids, I would be a basket case. My youngest wants to join, but he has to finish college first. We did the enlisted thing, I want him to go in as an officer.

Most of my chores are done for the day. We are going to a going away party tonight for friends that have to go to Maxwell AFB( Alabama). SO I have a little cooking to do this afternoon. I walked on the beach this morning. I really wanted to get some pool time but he sun has not broken through the clouds yet.

Have a great Saturday!!!!!

Yep, that is where DIL and g/children are - waiting on him to come home.

They do not live on base. They rented a house off base on the water. It is just beautiful waking up each morning and looking out over the sunrise and watching the sun come up.

Kim tells DIL all the time to enjoy themselves before he comes home, as they will be preparing to leave shortly afterwards. The children will start school there again, but will not finish the year.

They will be in Dothan - Enterprise area. Their house is actually in Enterprise. A booming town to say the least. :rolleyes1

But DIL has lots of friends there. She was Station Manager for the two FOX TV stations for over 10 years (and also the one in the Panhandle of FL (don't remember the name of the town) and she left that job to go to Hawaii with Kim. She gave up so much to do that. No regrets, tho.

I have done some house cleaning this weekend. Have three large garbage cans and everything is totally packed and overflowing. I could have a yard sale with what I threw away but I don't want to mess with that. Too much of a hassle for me right now. And besides that, I have three 14 x 16 shedds in the back of my yard that is loaded to the gills with "whatever" I have accumulated.

Someone stole DH's bike sometimes over the past couple of months. So I have been keeping the sheds locked ever since. In addition to that I have a six foot fence around my yard with only one side locked. When I am not home, every thing is padlocked - so it had to be sometimes when we/I was home.

I hope whoever took it enjoys it with each and every ride.

Tomorrow will surely be a leisure day for me. Only thing I want to do is go to the coin show at our local library. I need a few sets to complete some coin sets.

Time to fix a little supper - not much food in the house, but I'll find something.

Glad to hear your son is coming home even if its for a short time. Thanks to him and all our men and women serving

Hello fellow Michigander. My oldest son and I are going to be running the 6.5K as well :)

So we will see you on the cruise and at the race :) My name is Amanda as well, but everyone calls me Mandy.

Where in Michigan and most important, Spartans or Wolverines?:cheer2:

When he comes home this time, this will be his last deployment. He has been to Iraq 3 times now - extended all three times. He was deployed to Korea and several other places. I forget all the places, as he has been in for 21 years and his papers will be processed for him to retire after these lloonngg 21 years. He is only 42 so he will have a great retirement and can still get a good job flying or something else that pays well.

If he were to start flying for Delta or American or another big airline, I could fly really cheap all over. But that is not important now, getting him home is the most important thing and first to think about.

Good morning Member Cruisers!

We sail in 14 weeks!

Getting closer and closer! Hopefully we'll start seeing more of the posters that signed in at the very beginning and haven't been around much. Then we can finalize plans for our meets.

Hawaii to Dothan, what a change!!! We came here from Guam. It was nice to stay near the beach!!!! They will still be close. We have been to Dothan a few times for swim meets. They have a great rec center.

Has every one decided what they are going to try to reserve next Sunday? I am so torn- I don't want to miss anything they have planned, but I want to do Palo brunch....:confused3.

Have a great Sunday- we have nothing planned, but it;s supposed to be a cloudy day again.

The only thing I want to reserve is Palo. I don't want to miss anything in the dining rooms. Those are fun nights.

Linda is in Ireland right now and then she will head to Barcelona to board the Magic for a 10 night Med cruise. So it is up to me to book Palo.

As far as excursions, I don't book them anymore. Been there, done that and don't want to waste my time nor money to do them again. So there'll be more open spots for new comers/first timers to do them and have loads of fun.

Same here, I think we will just do brunch and if they schedule something we can cancel.

I hope she is having a great time in Ireland. That is one place I havn't been yet. We lived in Germany for 4 years and just couldn't swing it.

Kay -

My hubby has family in Dothan. And family in Grady / Troy and the like. We come down there at least once a year. Not a big fan of Alabama.

Since we were talking about chat earlier I wanted to remind everyone that tonight (Sunday night) is DVC chat. So come and join us in the main chat room to talk about a subject near and dear to us - Disney Vacation Club.

Chat starts at 9 pm Eastern, 8 pm Central, 7pm Mountain and 6 pm Pacific.

My mom was born in Dothan and all of her family still lives there. I've got a cousin who works on the choppers at Fort Rucker (contractor). I grew up in Enterprise/Slocumb/Hartford.

We're back from Weston. Loved Ft Lauderdale, loved Miami (especially Bal Harbour shops). We did end up going down to Key West on Tuesday. Great trip. We want to trade in directly with one of our other timeshares in the future. Tolls really eat you up down there. We broke down this trip and got a Sunpass and had used in up before we left. The trip home to Georgia we went straight up 75 which took us through the Everglades and over near Tampa.

Next trip south is the second week of October for the girls fall break. We have a mon-thur at Fairfield Bonnet Creek. Then of course it's back at the end of the month for Cruisin.

I posted this on the main cruise thread but I thought I would ask you all as well. I just remember to ask this question even though it's been months since I discovered the crack.

On our last Disney Cruise 5/27/06 Double Dip my DD won a stainless steel coffee mug with the DCL logo embossed on it from playing bingo but since we really don't drink much coffee it sat in our cabinet for a long time. Well she wanted some hot chocolate this past winter and I decided to let her use her mug and I pull it out of the cabinet to find a big crack inside the mug. Could I call DCL and see if they will send me a new one or should I wait till we cruise in October and bring it with us to get a replacement? Any idea's? thanks.

Here's another question for you all.

My youngest DS is almost 2 1/2 and is completely potty trained even at night by the time we cruise in October he will be 2yrs and 8months old. Do you think DCL will let him join the clubs or do you think we will have to put him in the nursery? He can go potty by himself and knows to flush and wash his hands with soap and water.

Theresa

Sorry to hear you have a damaged mug. I would call DCL now and ask what they suggest. My thought is they will most likely send you a new one now.

As for your son I would talk to the counselers on board. I also have someone I can ask so let me see what I can find out.

Have a great day everyone!

yes, he can go in the Club.

My great niece was 2-1/2 last Sept. and she was potty trained and all that also and there was no problem at all. They were happy to have her.

Good morning all,

Hope every one has a great Monday. We are supposed to have a rainy day.
