2007-2008 cheer parent thread

The schedule is up for Athletic Championships in Providence...wow...lots of teams! I'm bummed out that they split it into two separate rooms though =( The level 2's are stuck upstairs in the ballroom.....waaaahhh. Our senior level 2 goes on in the ballroom at the same time as the level 5's in the main arena...grrrr! Looks like I'll be running back and forth! I'm really bummed that my daughter's team is in the ballroom but what can you do?

Has anyone seen World Cup's Mini 2? I'm thinking this is our main competition but I have no idea what they look like and haven't heard anything about them this year!!!

Just back from Spirit cheer in Orlando at seaworld. What a fiasco!! although dd's team won....YEAH!

My dd cheers on her high school team. The school has three separate squads -- JV, varsity and competition; you have to be on JV or varisty to try out for the competition squad. Between the varisty and comeptition squads she has practice five days a week, after school. Once practice session is held at an all-star gym, where they learn stunts and tumbling. It does get kind of hectic.

We used to go to the Spirit Cheer event in Orlando, but now we go to the Americheer event in WDW in March. We travel with the teams from our all-star gym -- they root for us and we root for them.

Good luck to your daughter's team Brenda!!! I am not sure if I am going as my DD is in an air cast with torn (not severed) ligaments in her ankle. She will be going with her teammates this weekend!!!

WC is usually pretty well rounded with all their teams. Haen't seen or heard about their mini's but your's are doing FANTASTIC!!! Keep it up and wishing you a National title.

If possible, try to sneak in to see WC Lg. SR 5 (shooting stars) and WC limited cod 5 (odessey) they are soooooo fun to watch!!!

Oh I will definitely be watching the WC Sr 5's!!! I'm so excited to see all the level 5 teams. We missed a lot of them last weekend at Spirit Sports! Celebrity's Youth 5 is my absolute favorite to watch! I love the little girl that throws a standing full in the beginning of the routine. I missed their Junior 5 last week but I've heard they are fierce! Can't wait to see everyone this weekend!

Both Celebrity and WC junior 5 teams are very competitive with one another. A very HEALTHY competition. Mostly all the girls on the team are friendly with one another and actually root each other on. Last year they all worethe same T shirt to Worlds which combined both teams. It is GREAT to see.

The senior level 5 divisions will be great to see. WC SS and Odessey already have paid bids. I am hoping Celbrity Lg Sr Unlimited 5 will get one. I think East Elite sm sr 5 will get one as well.

It all comes down to who hits both days!!

Hi everyone! Help please: dd5 has just started taking cheerleading and loves it. Where is the best place to get clothes/skirts,etc. for her to practice in? Anything not so expensive? thanks for any advice - so much has changed since I was a cheerleader!!!

The gym my daughter is at requires us to buy a practice "uniform"...shorts and a tank top with the gym logo on it. Super easy! She had two sets one for her weekend practice and one for her weekday practice. It eliminates me having to go out and buy all kinds of cutsie shorts and tops LOL! In any case, all your daughter really needs are some t-shirts and shorts to practice in. Hope that helps!!!

We are bringing five teams to Cheersport in Atlanta. I can't wait!! I've heard it's alot of fun. Who else is going??

And will someone PLEASE tell me how to make the cute little signatures you all have? I'm learning.

We are taking 5 of our teams to Atlanta too. Tumblebeez is our gym. DD11 is large youth level 2. Do you have a team in that division?

My DD's team does not go on until late both nights (7 ish). She is in lg. coed unlimited 5 division. Looks like some tough competition in her division but I like it when there is a challenge. Just hoping DD will be able to compete due to her injury............I will root for the Tumblebeez when I see them!!! Good luck and see you in a few weeks!!

rbuzzotta- I hope your DD is up and 100% before then. Good luck!!! Maybe with a lot of rest and careful rehab she will be up and in top shape.
We compete in arena F at approx. 10:57. There are 16 teams in our division. I am getting excited! Our gym is taking: mini 2, youth large2 (DD's), youth small 3, junior coed 3 large, and small senior 4.

We did pretty well at the Chattanooga Athletic Nationals 2 weeks ago. We had: 1 Grand Champion, 4 first places, 2 second places and 1 fourth place. Not bad for a weekend.

Congratulations polkadotminnie on a great weekend. I hope your teams do well at Cheersport. This will be our first cheersport in Atlanta. My DD was with another gym that usually went to NCA Dallas. I am looking forward to Atlanta. Looks like a very large competiton!!! I am not sure which arena DD is in but it was on one of the last pages of the schedule!!! She cheers for Celebrity Cheer NH. I don't quite know how many teams are going but I am guessing at least 10. If you have a chance to see their Youth 5 they will knock your socks off!! Such young, cute talented girls!!!
