2007-2008 cheer parent thread

Top Gun teams have so much energy and are crowd favorites!!! I am sure your choreography is awesome. Hope your DD has a great year!!

So no one's team does survival bags? I really need some ideas. Thanks.

We have our first competition Sunday. I hope we do well. So far the teams aren't looking so good, but last year they pulled it out. Hopefully they will this year also. We are doing a small competition in Miami. I think it is just meant to be a morale booster for the teams. Top Gun will be there, but it is their Naples team not the Miami team.

Hey Mom21~~ Good luck this weekend!! You always worry and your teams always do GREAT!!!!! :) :)
Last weekend we had a regional that Top Gun Miami was at and they were just so fun to watch!! Im sure that Naples will be also. :)

We have a regional in Vero that is also just basically a "dress reheresal"
Are you guys going to States in Jax??

Cheersport Regional in Springfield MA is on January 12..................we will be there as far as I know.

Great! I absolutely love watching Celebrity's teams! We'll be there too (Sparks)...my daughter is on their Mini 2 team. I can't wait. We had a little local comp last weekend but I can't wait for Cheersport!!!

I'd love to learn more about how this works. My daughter is about to turn 2 and cheering is something I'd like to look into for when she is older. I live in Western Palm Beach County, FL. I'm planning to register her for either gymnastics or dance when she turns 2 in January. I was thinking about starting with gymnastics and adding dance in the fall. What do you think? Which one would help her more with cheering?

Oh, any input from people in my area would help. I would need to find a group that starts with little ones. I guess that is the Tiny group, right?!

thanks!

Well in our area they can start cheering Tiny at 2 1/2. I would call around to gyms and see what they recommend.

We had our comp today. The kids did a great job. We got all firsts, but we had no one to compete against. My DS was a real crowd pleaser. We added a part of the song " My boyfriend's back". the Tiny's cartwheel out from him and leave him standing alone in the middle of the floor. The crowd went crazy laughing and cheering as DS flexed his muscles. It was so cute and he loved every minute of it.

So how did the rest of this weekends comps go?

ntburns22, Congrats on the good time!! We also had our regional this weekend and only two of our teams had compition (those teams both took first and second place) We have little boys on our two little teams and they are just the cutest!!!! Check out our tinys(5 years and under) here www.royalgemz.com (the picture on the homepage changes the tiny team is the 5th picture)

Mom21, where are you?? I heard Elite did GREAT at the Miami Mega!!! WHOO HOO!!!!! CONGRATS!!!:cool1:

Here I am...:cool1:

Yes we had a great day for the gym. With the exception of the mini's we took first. Won lots of divisional awards also. Here is a list from our website.

1st Place- Youth Power (Level2)--my dd's team--I must say this was a shocker as Boca Extreme looked really good. They have a better pyramid, but we were cleaner on tumbling some said. I don't know. I just watched my dd. I never can see the whole thing unless I get it on video to watch later. We had No drops though so that was great. My dd was so happy last night.

1st Place- Youth Impact (Level 3)

1st Place- Jr. Co-ed Fury (Level 5)

1st Place- Senior Blast (Level 2 Open)

1st Place- Senior Force (Level 2)

1st Place- Senior Strike (Level 4)

2nd Place- Mini Madness (Level 1)

Exhibition- Sr. Co-ed Wrath (Level 5)

Specialty Awards:

GRAND Champions- Fury

Junior Divisional Champion- Fury

Senior Divisional Champion- Strike

Level 2 Divisional Champion- Power

Level 3 Divisional Champion- Impact

Youth Divisional Champion- Impact

WOW Award for Best Tumbling- Wrath

At least we are starting the year off on a good note.:cheer2:

Our next is Spirit In Orlando on January 26 and 27 at Seaworld. Anyone going?

We are a small local league so we only do one competition. We are done with it and both my daughters teams took first. One funny thing though is my youngest daughters hair piece flew off at the end of her routine. She just grabbed it and beamed at the judges and pranced off. She did so well with it. It was an incredible day. We had our banquet and the girls got airbrushed pillowcases with their names on them. Sooooo special. The one thing I am bummed about other then the end of cheer season is their coach is going to be on the football side of things next year so they will have a new coach. She was fantastic so I am bummed about that.

No we are doing Matchplay that weekend. We did the Seaworld comp many years ago you will enjoy it!!! Very pretty setting!!!

Is anyone from the North East? I see someone from Celebrity but any other New England teams out there?

brenrn..........I have seen Sparks at a competition. My Dd previously cheered for East Elite but wanted to be part of a Co-ed team so she left (very difficult decision).

Are you going to Jingle Jam this weekend in Worcester??? DD's team goes on late Saturday night!!!! Maybe see you there.............

Hi Rosemary! Our Youth 2 team will be at Jingle Jam this weekend and my daughter and I will be there cheering them on! I would have loved for my daughter's team to go...they have been competition ready for a few weeks now but a girl on her team has mono so they are down one member for a few more weeks :sad1:

I don't think we'll end up sticking around long enough to see the level 4's and 5's, although I'd LOVE to!!!

I'm sure it was a really tough decision to leave East Elite! They're teams are fantastic. I always look forward to seeing them.

I agree!! INCREDIBLE!! As far as teams I have seen!!!!! We has them do our routine this year I hope they give us just a SMALL bit of their awesomeness!!!!!:thumbsup2

Ok, so our team did not do as well as we would have hoped. They got 4th out of 4, they had a drop on Saturday that is what really killed us.:headache: Sunday the routine was perfect, but not enough to recover from the drop on Saturday. Oh, well, they always have Mardi Gras in New Orleans in January.

WEll, maybe we will see you in Providence then. Too bad your DD goes on early while mine goes on late. There is NO WAY she will get up early to watch other teams!! LOL!! The privelege of being on Senior level teams I suppose. WE have been through getting up in the wee hours to get ready so now she enjoys sleeping in and getting ready at a sloooooowwww pace!!!

Yes it was an extremely difficult decision to leave EE. They will always hold a special place in our hearts but DD made the decision on her own and she is having a blast with Celebrity. She LOVES co ed teams and is having sooooo much fun. It is great to see her so happy. Now just to get her feeling better (strep throat 3 times in 4 months!!! has to have tonsils out in between comps and Worlds!!!)!!

Good luck everyone..........

So glad to find this site!! I am the proud parent of three All Star cheerleaders!! Takes alot of time, money and dedication from both my husband and I, but it is all worth it. We (my kids) cheered in Disney last season.. what fun! :cheer2: :grouphug:

So no one's team does survival bags? I really need some ideas. Thanks.

Our team did bags! We included EVERYTHING cheer for our trip. We ordered everything from cheer band aids to water bottles, from hair ties (can't have too many of those) to nail polish remover wipes!

I think we (Celebrity) are going to Cheersport in Springfield. what are the dates?

Top Gun Coed 5 is the reigning World Champs!! SOOOOOOOO awesome to watch to say the least!!

Anyone going to Cheersport in Atlanta or Athletic in Providence???

We are bringing five teams to Cheersport in Atlanta. I can't wait!! I've heard it's alot of fun. Who else is going??

And will someone PLEASE tell me how to make the cute little signatures you all have? I'm learning.
