In case you didn’t read On a Horse with No Name or Pre-Mature Trip Elation, I will give you a little background:

Our Loud Family of 5 is adding 6 in-laws for a total party of 11. This was a last minute change to accommodate the poor unfortunate out of town cousins. I also had to scramble to make ADR’s for 11 at times and places that weren’t my 1st choice, or 2nd or 3rd. With all of the pre trip drama, I wasn’t looking forward to spending almost a week with these people. But, these are my kin folk and they fall under the “for better or worse” contractual agreement made before God and a bunch of witnesses.

In addition to our 5, meet the other inmates:

Grandpa, 82, GP: Full of pee and vinegar. This man doesn’t think he is a day over 30. He roller skates, bounces like Tigger, and would walk 5 miles if you dared him. However, his aging mind is slipping. His patience is growing very thin, and he is becoming more and more frustrated with grandma’s failing physical state.

Grandma, 78 GM: A very opinionated old lady who grew up very poor and worked hard for everything. She doesn’t waste an ounce of food, so the DDP adventure should be interesting.

MIL, 55: MIL is not good with schedules and doesn’t care about making people wait, or making people miss their ADR’s.

BIL, 32, Smokey: BIL is the father of two children. Note, that I do not call him a Daddy. Smokey didn’t get on my nerves nearly as much as I thought, but I still haven’t changed my opinion of him.

Neice, 8, Denise: Denise has become a very pleasant little girl and all around neat kid. She is very articulate and well mannered, but now has to live in the shadow of her spoiled brother. Denise is no trouble at all, and I would gladly take her anywhere.

Nephew, 6, Whiner: Whiner is a spoiled rotten whiney annoying little boy. He has a loud whiney voice that grates on my last nerve. Whiner cries at anything and everything.

I think I last chatted with my DIS family about 2:00AM on Aug. 17. I was rushing around with the last minute details, and packing the can’t-live-without items. Earlier during the day on Wednesday, I picked up a few 30 more LGMHPC’s from HD because I knew for certain I would go through them quickly with all of the focking that I was planning. Despite my best efforts, there was simply too much to do, and I was too excited to sleep. Sirius decided that he would take a little nap, as he knew I would crash at some point, and he would be allowed to drive. I think it was about 4:00AM when I decided I had packed enough, emptied the pantry of all Nabs, crackers, and any other food to fill us since we’d only have two meals a day with this free dining. We certainly didn’t want any hungry Loudies! I woke Sirius so we could load the van and leave….quickly. Yeah, right! Sirius started piddling with something, so I thought I’d pack the minivan. When I opened the front door, I was smacked in the face with a deadly force of humidity. “Uh, I’ll just sit down for a bit until you are ready to load the van.” I must have dozed off because Sirius woke me to say he was loading the kids in the van. I asked him if we should load everything else first. He smiled, and said, “the van’s all loaded.” Sirius Lee, you are the best! Uh, what time is it?

Yeah! :cheer2:

I have trouble sleeping before we leave. There is always a ton of last minute things to do.
Our January 05 trip we planned on leaving at 4am. My DS2 (at the time) woke us up at 6am. :scared1: DH set the arlarm for 3PM not 3am. :sad2:

Enough about me. More on 2006SST. :Pinkbounc Yeah! Your back. I think I said that already.

It's 4:30....
Is it late?
No it is early early

Oh thank goodness you are posting! I can't wait to read this!!!

Well….I don’t remember what time we left the first time, but our 2nd attempt to leave was 6:26AM. Not as early as I would have liked, but better than the March trip! I have no clue what we forgot, but we turned around before leaving the neighborhood. We are finally on the way, and guess who is driving? Nope, I let Sirius drive! I figured it would be safe at this hour, and I still needed a little snoozle. I awoke just in time for Sirius to proclaim, “I see the sombrero!” From the back, Felony screams, “It looks like a taco!” Uh, Sirius, are you awake over there? That’s a Days Inn sign. Just as our van turns due south, we see it, and I say “that’s the sombrero!” Again, Felony says, “it looks like a taco!” I think it’s time for me to drive. We exit in Pedroville and arrive just in time for the morning ceremonial opening of the gift shop. It is our lucky day because we are just in time for the flag raising. How lucky are we to be the flag family for South of the Border? Actually, we are not the flag family, we just happen to be the only family there at 8:00AM, and we parked right in front of the flag pole. But, this is my trippie, so from my point of view, we were the Official South of the Border Flag Family on 8/17/06! Woo Hoo!! We wandered through the gift mart for a few minutes to get my blood pumping and I was looking for a few gag gifts. Meanwhile, Sirius was attracted to anything lime green. World’s largest fly swatter, whoopee cushion, double shot glass….I do need a shot glass….focus Sirius! Our dear friends, the Twinkies, just celebrated their 10th anniversary. The contemporary gift is leather. Right there in the Pedro Mart, I found the perfect, yet affordable gift, but I never made it over to the SSR to leave it at the front desk. Anyone want to guess what it is?

No fair, I "know" what it is. So I wont answer. ;)

What an Honor being the South of the Boarder Flag-Family!! I hope that wasn't the high-light of your trip. (???)

Based on the description of your nephew, I want to lime-green-duck-tape his whiny yap closed already.

Pedro-ville is a must-visit before I die. (Easier than climbing Mt. Everest or riding a bull named "Fu-man-choo")

OMG! He is also that pushy-got-to-be-first kid. He would get about 10 steps ahead of the pack quite often. I was sooooo tempted to lead our group in another direction on numerous occasions. But even I couldn't be that mean! So, I would send him to the back of the line with his father. Which of course made me the bad guy because it appeared I was trying to separate him from the other kids. No, I was trying to avoid wasting even more precious Disney time looking for a lost brat. We were already wasting enough time on Smokey's smoke breaks, and Whiner's frequent bathroom emergencies. It is actually sad that these two kids don't see their father as a....it's hard to explain. When a child needs something, he or she should automatically walk up to or call out the name of their own parent. Right? Not Denise and Whiner. Whiner doesn't even look for a male. When he had to go, which was quite often, he came to me. I said, Whiner, why are you telling me? You have a father, ask him to take you. I wasn't trying to be mean, but MIL insisted that Smokey come along because he is bonding so nicely with his children. Oh, so this is why they hate him more than ever? Eeks, I sound harsh this morning!

Ugg! I LOVE kids! Other people's kids even more! "Under-priveleged" kids even MORE...but he would make me

for sure. And his "father" would frustrate me to no end.

You poor thing! (hope that helps)
Your family IS entertaining, though!

I had plenty of opportunities to "off" Whiner. He actually had a near death experience at AK! But, we went to AK on day 4, so you'll have to wait awhile to find out what happened. :smooth:

whoo hoo .. and we're off!
popcorn::

Ok so I sat down with some popcorn, it's Sunday and I still have a bunch of laundry to do, but I would rather be doing this popcorn::

:lmao: :lmao:

oh no... i just started reading another TR that was only started today... now I have to live through the suspense of waiting for each installment!

better get the popcorn::

I have a spare roll of duct tape you could have used!!!! All you had to do was ask! Whiners drive me crazy!! Can't wait to read the rest.

Just think- if you had left on time and/or you did the early am driving you would not have gotten to be The South of the Border Flag Family! :cool1: I mean, how many people can say that? or would say that? out loud? in public?

Maybe you can plan a Flan Gathering and invite the UtahMama clan......

This TR is gonna be great.... I can tell already. popcorn::

Oh my gosh I feel your pain already. I so couldn't go there with my in-laws, no way no how no where. I would be forced to off one or all of them. :rotfl:

So, is anyone gonna guess what perfect gift I picked up for Twinkie Mama?

I don't think they make leather twinkies! :rotfl:
Subbing. I really enjoyed Horse with no name so I had to come here to find out the rest of the story.

You are a better woman than me. I couldn't travel with DH's family at all!

Leather thong for the water parks?? No wait.... Leather whip?? She can get the family cracking in the morning?? :rotfl:

Well, I was kind of expecting her to drop Whiner off at our Deluxe Disney Vacation Club Accomadations for our Romantic Anniversary Trip and then dash out of there and maybe change her name.... but that didn't work out so I am hoping (?) that it is South of the Border Pin Lanyard complete with starter set of trading pins... the one with Pedro, the Big Hat, a taco and a dollar sign. But that is a bit much- I mean she wouldn't let Sirius buy all sorts of useful items for UtahMama so I am guessing an autographed 8x10 glossy of Pedro and the Askew family?????
