We are on the verge of buying a Sedona. Really nice van, drives great, fab warranty fully loaded more than 10k less than a Sienna.

We just wanted to see if we can get any real-live owners to give us an opinion...so love it? hate it?

TIA! :thumbsup2

I just called my boyfriend to ask him about any problems that they have... and he says that there aren't any (yet). He asked why I wanted to know and I said that someone was looking into buying one.. and his response was "buy one."

My husband is a GSM for Kia and says it is everybit the quality of a toyota for a lot less price. Built like a bullet. Safest rated minivan of all time. All pluses.

Now this is me talking here. Do you really want to drive a mini van? The toyota sequoia would be my first choice if i couldnt afford a landcruiser.

My best friend just bought one and loves it! :thumbsup2

Not an owner yet but I'm leaning that way myself, if I go for another minivan. My DH is also a GSM for Kia.

Not speaking for the OP, but there is a BIG price difference between a Sequoia and a Sedona.

Go to Edmunds.com forums and look at Kia owner problems/solutions.

I know the resale value is horrid - be sure to purchase GAP insurance if you buy one.

Kia is really one of the too good to be true companies - I drove one of their sedans as a rental - was very impressed by the features and the ride... but I still wouldn't buy one.

Monique- hello? Kia van Vs Toyota Sequoia?! - apples to oranges!

Thanks for all the input!

I know the resale is not great but we drive our vans for a long time so resale isn't a big deal to us.

We are really sold on the safety and the price, really really good.

And yes, I need to have a minivan, 3 labs + one child = lots of space! :p

I owned a Kia Sedona - but an 04. LOVED the van! Always love to pay less for all of the same features. I too drive my vehicles for a long time so the trade in value appeared to be of little consequence. We had to trade it in - and only because it wasn't 4 wheel drive. We had moved to upstate New York and our house is on a large hill, hence the 4w drive. But I miss many of the Sedona's features and it is a very roomy vehicle. I say buy one, you won't regret it.

Ok, just a for warning about Kia in general, first off resale is a joke, its absolutly horid. You would be lucky to get 40% of the sales price 2 years from now. Be sure to read the warranty very well too, because ive heard of dealers denying the warranty because certain inspections hadn't been made to keep the warranty valid. Kia used to have horrible quality, and im not sure if much has changed as im not much of a Kia guy myself, but I would really investigate resale...

there was a thread a couple days back about awful things owners have had happen to their sedonas..i want to say it was last week some time.

We just bought one a few months ago and we love it! It runs wonderful and there is lots of room and lots of storage.

I am aware that they used to have issues, but the 2006 is totally redone, new engine, body, etc so I am thinking it is much better. All the reviews I have read have said that the 2006 is a huge improvment on the past versions.

Thanks for the input!

My good friend bought one and really likes. She hasn't had any problems.

i have a 2005 and have had no problems at all (knocking on wood) ... we know someone else who has one a few yrs older and same thing ... no problems :)

I will NEVER buy another KIA. My DD was in an accident last summer, and out of the 6 wonderful air bags, NONE of them went off in a 30 mph frontal impact. The dealership gave us nothing but doubletalk.

If my DD had been injured, I would now own a significant portion of the company.

Kia sucks.

Ya get what you pay for :confused3

I would rather pay a few more $$ per month and know im riding in a good product then go cheap and have something like this happen...

OP,
just so you know where Disneyjosh is coming from, he works for GM and his wife works for Ford. He also blames foreign car companies and their use of cheap third world labor(he includes Japan, Germany, and South Korea in his definition of third world) for all the problems the American automotive industry has had in recent years. So you can judge for yourself how unbiased his statements are.

I'm not going to say that Kia's are the most reliable cars out there because they aren't. And I can't comment on how good their service or warranties are because I haven't had to use them. All I can tell you is that we have a 2004 Sedona that we've put over 50k miles on and the only thing we've had to do is replace the brakes. So overall, we've been very happy with it. Though if I had a little bit higher budget, I'd be looking at Honda(Odyssey or Pilot) just because of the quality and personal preference. We bought a Pilot last year and we absolutely love it. But it was around 30k(granted, that was with leather, DVD, etc.) vs the 20k we spent on the Sedona.

We have a Kia Sedona 2004 and have only had to replace the brakes about 3 months ago. I would love the 2006, mainly b/c in our van you have to take out the back two seats - in the 2006 I believe that fold into the floor? That and the extra airbags. We were hesitant to buy it, but couldn't afford the Sienna. We are not regretting it at all. Good luck

We actually rented a Sienna for 2 weeks last time we were at WDW. Surprisingly(since I'm generally a Toyota fan and love the 4Runner), I didn't like it very much and I was glad to get back to our Sedona when we got home.
