I should hear whether or not I have gotten a new job some time this week or next. If I do get this job my commute will go from 8 miles to 45 miles one way and my old truck (1992) will not do well for that drive and I need better gas mileage. It is also on the verge of falling apart. I have pretty much narrowed down my choices to these two cars. Both are usually highly regarded and their gas mileage is pretty darn good. Our other car is a 2002 Camry. I am trying to avoid the hybrids due to their lack of horsepower and here in the mountains that could be a problem. I have been doing the research in case I get the job so I am ready to buy when/if the time comes. Just looking to see if others have opinions. Thanks!

I would say either. With those two cars (for me at least) it comes down to the body style. I like the Corolla over the Civic. The Camry or Accord will get better mileage than your truck but lower mileage than the Corolla or Civic. Another one to look at is the Mazda 3. It is standing its own against the Civic and Corolla.

The Corolla is probably the most reliable car ever made. The Civic is good too, but I think the Corolla is a bit better. We have had several Corolla's in our family and they have all lasted well over 10 years, DH and my first car was a Corolla that we just sold a year ago, 15 years after we bought is and it is still going strong with the only repairs being a new starter. Either way, you can't go wrong.

My BIL got the Toyota Hybrid car and gets unbelievable gas mileage, like 75 MPG or something crazy like that, but it is a new model and I tend to shy away from the 1st year of any car model.

I have driven a Honda for the past 3 1/2 years and have never had any problems. I have an Accord, and drive about 75 miles each way to graduate school 3-4x per week - and it has been great on gas. I have not had to replace, fix, or bring it in the shop for anything - which has been wonderful!! So, my Honda has been very reliable. I would assume the Civic would be very much the same. :flower:

Hard to go wrong either way. I have a 2005 Corolla and would recommend it highly

I have an 05 Accord and I Love it.
The new 06 civics look awesome.

I have an '05 Corolla and love it. It's the 3rd Corolla I've bought and will continue to buy.
