I FINALLY got this posting thing fixed so I could post!!YEAH!!
Anyway, we are on the 10 day Holiday Cruise and I have a request. DD will be within 1 month (27 days) of turning 13 and I have read that if they are within 1 month then they can go to Stacks. Is this correct? If so, are there any cruisers here with DD's she could meet before going? She is so looking forward to it and is doing her research daily.
We also have a DS (8) who could use some friends too.

Our cast will include:
DH-just turned 36!
Me-35
DD-12(almost 13)
DS-8
My Mom-57
MIL-55
FIL-58

If so what type of gift might it be?

Yes, Santa does hand out gifts. But if your "child" is too old to stand in line for Santa, they can still get their gift. Matt(14) waited until Lisa (10) saw Santa and was ready to get her gift when he joined her. The gifts are handed out by age group. The youngest children received Plush Toys, The kids in the Lab received Disney Cruise Visors and the Teens received personal walkman radios.
They also receive a gift if they participate in the programs during the cruise. Last Christmas it was a hat for the Lab kids and a "Stack" Visor for the teens.
We have sailed the last two Christmases and they have a number of nice things that occur during the trip that are special to the holiday time. For the adults, we have received a "platter" of chocolates each year. Ther is a ribbon of chococlate with a picture of the Magic sailing on it. Plus lots of individual candies. Something for everyone.

Yes, they will probably allow her in the teen program. My nephew was close to his 13th birthday and they allowed him in the teen program this summer. But, do it early on the first day. They told us (how true this is I don't know), that they will only take so many of the "almost 13's. After that, they think the program becomes too full. I guess they estimate the number of kids in each program and "assume" 12 year olds will be in the Lab. I had to speak to the Lab Manager to get my nephew "transfred" to the teen program. Do get frustrated. Just work through the process and it should be fine. Once she is in the program, you're set.

Thanks, scuba.mom. I will make sure that is one of our 1st stops then.
Now, how do I find the "teen thread"? DD would like to check that out.
TIA

My ds, Nick, will be within a few weeks of his 8th birthday. We're going to try to get him in the Lab in the 8-10 group. He'd like a friend! :)

Wow, that was cool! TOP. I love when I get one without trying or counting! Makes it all the more special! :)

Yup, something for me!! That sounds yummy!

Can you believe it? Less than 48 hours and I will have met at least some of the infamous "scuba" family!! :) Lookin' forward to it!!

Disneylover4, we have an 8 y/o son who would love a friend or 5 :) When are you getting to FL? Are you going straight to port or staying somewhere the night before?

Welcome all de-lurkers and newbies!

Good afternoon everyone!
Welcome, welcome, welcome to all of our "new" friends!

Virgil, did you fly over us....or were you on the northern route?
We're just below the Grand Canyon.

Lisa, sadly I WAS sipping my soda when I read about getting rid of your smelly DH....I hate it when soda goes up my nose...thank you!!:p

Gus...the taxi's on Antigua have rates fixed by the government...no meters. The furthest ride from the port is Devil's Bridge and it is $25. Dickinson Bay is $10. So, it depends on how far away the Dolphin place is...I can't remember right now where it is located. Expect to tip the driver perhaps $1 per person.

Good afternoon/evening everyone!!

Welcome to all the newcomers!
I worked today and am exhausted. Gotta work tomorrow too. More money to spend on the cruise!

Lisa, thanks for the Teva link. Mine are about 5 years old and might need to be replaced. I actually think I want new ones and will give these to Kristen to wear on our Antigua excursion. I also thought it was funny about replacing the DH, but thankfully wasn't drinking soda at the time. Thanks for the laugh though!

Karen - have a safe trip! I will definately give you a call Thursday afternoon. I am sure we will probably be in Epcot sometime that afternoon/evening.

Well off to cook some dinner.

Nope - we were north of you... :(

It figures that the Apple Store is across the street from the Marriott.... Glad DW doesn't read the boards:earseek: :teeth:

Welcome Disneylover4!!!

Hi everyone, and welcome newbies! It will take me a while to keep everyone straight, since I just skimmed about 50 pages I think. We got home last night to 45 degree weather and a report that it had rained constantly while we were gone. Some things were a bit wacko, so I think we had power outages too. Saddest of all, our DSL would not work! Kevin spent several hours trying to fix it, plus another hour or so on the phone with Earthlink techs, all to no avail. So I switched us to Dial up (HORRORS!) until we can get a new DSL service connected. That'll show Earthlink! And us, after we've gone through changing our e-mail address info about a hundred times.

Nice visit to WDW, we had a great time. Enjoyed meeting the Scuba family (aka Burt family) again. Yes, my daughter is a ham. It was kind of funny, I was taking pics at the window, and a lady tried to get in front of me, saying "that's my daughter". I said, no, that's MY daughter. Alicia was the only female in the tank. Sort of a Twilight Zone moment.

Alicia doesn't have dial-up capacity, so she will be using my computer I'm sure. Even though I don't have a cool signature line.

I will be checking PM's. If anyone is second seating and wants to join the group, send your cabin number and full names, and I'll try to add those next week.

Back to shuttling the daughter, planning meals, WORKING (must pay for Disney). Reality is a bummer, isn't it?

ohiominnie and dee47 lets see if we can get our sons together. There is another boy from DS's class who will also be on the cruise so the 8 yo's are adding up!
We are planning on driving down the morning of the cruise, but DH is now thinking about a few days at Epcot, so I'm not sure yet.
We are taking our parents with us and FIL hasn't been to "The World" yet and DH is dying to show him the sites.

ohiominnie, thanks for the link to the teen thread. I have sent the link to DD. I'll get her set up to post in the next few days.

It's a treat that everyone looks forward too!

If all goes well you will actually meet all of us. DS has his tournament at 2:00 so hopefully he and I will be able to meet with you before we are off to dinner.

Another tough weekend coming up. Wide World of Sport and Magic Kingdom on Saturday and Wine & Food again on Sunday. Two weekends in a row. You just got to love life!

Sharon tells me people were posting about the wine package. My advice is take your own. Even if you fly in, go to a wine store before heading to the port. Throw a couple (or a bunch) of wine bottles in your carry on. Take a really big glass of wine to dinner and enjoy.

It save a lot and you get the wine that you enjoy!

Kevin, Diana, Alica: We had a great time at our pre-cruise scuba meeting. We watch the Disney Dive Quest Video before Survivor tonight. Loved it. Looking forward to diving again. We will think of you Sunday when we are in Italy!

Kevin, I went to Paradise Springs on Wednesday. The visability was excellent. The first time I could see 100 ft there. We will have some good dives planned in May.

Again, we had a great day with you and look forward to all our future pre-cruise meets.
