I think it is cool that we'll be meeting up 3 months before we cruise. That's one of the reasons September would work best for us. It's half-way between our WDW road trip and the cruise. Have to spread out that spending a little!

As we get closer we'll have to formulate a plan and I'm looking at you Hershey vets to help. We've never been there so we definately want to see lots of the park and do the rides.

I think our plan is to take 2 days off. Drive there Friday, meet on Saturday, do something else in the area Sunday (like chocolate world) and then drive home Monday.

I know we can't afford the Hershey Hotel. Looking at the lodge but any other options you guys can give would be welcome. Would love to have something with high speed internet for DH.

Good Saturday Morning Everyone!

You won't believe this, but....

I fell asleep on the couch at 5:30 last night, and just now woke up! Sorry I missed a chance to chat, after all my questions!

I think the last week finally caught up to me. 13 hours of sleep....wow. So why do I still feel tired?

Going to go look around. See ya later.

Stacey

Morning Mary! I'm thrilled you and DH are coming all that way to meet us East Coast cruisers!

Morning Stacey! What's happening with your creek today? Did you survive your children being home yesterday!

Mary - We always go to HersheyPark for their Spring preview weekend - taking the boys up on Easter Sunday, so I can pick up brochures, maps, hotel ideas, discount coupons for the area, etc. and send them along with the family pic for the newsletter. Anybody else want Hershey brochures, just let me know - happy to send them.

New ride - HersheyPark has a new roller coaster this year - it's the world's first hydraulic launch roller coaster with vertical inversions (whatever that means). Our last HersheyPark newsletter said the launch speed goes from 0-72 mph in 2 seconds! Whoa mama! That's going to be one fast coaster! :scared1:

Hi CHarlotte....don't know about the creek yet...I haven't been down to look yet. We used to be able to see it from the kitchen window, but the trees have grown too much.
Apparently DH made it home, though....he's in the bed. But he has a big old (1959) truck with 4WD that makes it when no one else's does, even my YukonXL.

When I sat down on the couch at 5:30 to watch the news, I sent the kids to their rooms......I never heard another sound after that...not even the news! I really zonked.

jilljill - Songs with day of the week in their title: "Goodbye, Ruby Tuesday" and "Come Saturday Morning".

Linda - We would jump at a repositioning cruise, too. Wish they'd just announce the plans and get it going! :boat:

Lisa - How was the Japanese steakhouse for DD's birthday celebration? We have one called "Sakura Japanese Steakhouse" near here that we love! Is it the kind with the chefs preparing the food at your table? The boys love it when they do the fires on the grill!

Lneeley & Lynda - Thanks for instructions on how to find our group's post # - got it figured out.

Gail - Isn't this the big start of your new kitchen re-model? DH and I renovated an old (very old) house together in 1996 and it's a minor miracle we're celebrating our 10th this year after that experience! Are you excited about leaving for WDW on Monday?

afff - Come to HersheyPark with us! How far would it be from Toronto?

LeiLani - Got your email - will send you one soon. Just think - this time next week you'll be boarding the Magic! I'm sooooo jealous!

Good vacations to everyone leaving, left or on their way! :wave2:

I wish I were a weather person. They said rain all weekend. Blue skies and sunny right now. The only job I know of where you can be wrong all the time, and not get fired!

If I can get across the creek, I'm going to Carefree, our bordering town. Some people have heard of the Boulders Resort, Golden Door Spa, Desert Mountain where the hold The Tradition golf tournament? That's Carefree, our upscale next door neighbor.
Anyway, on and around Easy Street (yes, really....they have Tranquil Trail, Ho & Hum Rds.....kinda corny, but cute) they're having an art festival and a friend of mine who makes jewelry has a booth. She made me a seahorse pendant this fall...gorgeous. Anyway, she's using a piece that she just finished for me for judging for her to be a "Juried" artist. Here's the fun part...
It's a turquoise pendant, and I usually don't like turquoise or indian jewelry....but....this turquoise is very pale blue w/o any of the brown spots like other turquoise. She took it to an artist in Italy, who carved the bust of a woman who looks like a mermaid on it. She put small diamonds around her neck...like she's wearing a necklace. I haven't seen the finished product yet. I guess her artist friends felt it was her best work for judging. ANYWAY...the turquoise comes from a mine in northern Arizona that is almost totally tapped out...once it's gone, it's gone. The name of the mine??? (Thus, one of the reasons it so attracted me)
SLEEPING BEAUTY MINE

Hope I can get out to see it displayed. Also, after the judging, I get to bring her (the mermaid) home.

Lynda & Cash....and Carrie, et al.....
We're close enough, we could meet!

I can't resist a September road trip....
Any hotel that has shuttle service to and from local attractions sounds like my cup of tea....

Lynda.....have you and Cash ever thought about going to Las Vegas?
I know, everyone gets sick of me and Vegas.....but FREE rooms and food....who could resist that??

YAYYYYY!!! A meet, for meeeee and youuuuu?....Where? When?
No Carrie, I must insist...She's in rehab....Penny and Cash, yes...NO CARRIE!!, the little furball is nuts....:bounce:

Stacey - thanks for setting me up for my 2nd top! Very nice of you! How do you manage free rooms in Vegas??

Bummed, bummed, bummed - just called DCL to see if anything had changed on the possible repositioning cruise for May 2005. They said the announcement is now supposed to come this summer.......not Spring. Drats and more drats! :(

Vegas?...We can do Vegas....

I have been to Vegas a zillion times...But I haven't been there in years! They have great shuttles from airport to hotel and I have a timeshare based in Vegas...

It's not that I don't drive...I'm just lazy. I have a profound dislike of renting cars (has something to do with not being able to hoist my scooter parts into a car trunk (even if I could dismantle the thing) and, although I should probably walk more...walking is SO SLOW !!!....oh, well, details.....never mind.

Whoo hoo, Lynda and Cash!!! Are you in for September?? That would be so wonderful! Wow! :jumping1: :jumping1:

Might work....We travel cheap. So far I have no plans for September... Arrive Friday 17 depart Sunday 19th...I'll start checking flights or might drive....ugh...
Cash loves travel!

Unfortunately I must work Dayshift that whole weekend.

But I may do a road trip to Hershey some other time during the summer.

Like I say..........I want an excuse to use the new ferry which operates between Toronto and Rochestor.

I hope you all have a great meet.
I am certain that you all will give us a report on this thread when you get back.

Its probably a good thing that you choose a weekend that I must work for the fear of letting the cat out of bag.

You see .......we are trying to totally surprise the kids with this cruise.

They won't know about it until we pull up and park in front of the ship.

Lynda and Cash

My kids love animals........if you need to excerise Cash with a little walk around the ship my DD will be more then happy.
I'll supervise them of course.
