Just wanted to give a heads up to fellow Floridians, DCL has released some fl resident rates into 2004 as of this morning!
I saved $1200 on my cabin!!!!!!!

Thanks for the heads up Carolyn. Did you find the prices on their website or did you call DCL?

I actually called DCL this morning and asked. Actually, I've been calling them almost every morning for the discount since I had reservations on both the 7 night and the 4 night. I needed the discount in order to be able to talk my husband into the 7 night again!

thanks for the heads up....I'm looking for my TA to include this discount on 1/15 3 day we're taking

Thanks for the heads up! Trying to talk Florida relatives into joining us. Just got off the phone with DCL. Rates are for Cat 4-10 only. Date January 10-17 Eastern Magic quotes I got: Cat 10 (inside, split bath), 2 adults, $1672.70, 4 adults $2884.40. Cat 6 (outside verandah), 2 adults, $2512.70, 4 adults $3,925.40. (We paid $2,785 for two adults, cat 6 and $1825 two adults, cat 11, Early Booking discount, so a good deal for all you Florida folk.)

Does there need to be at least one FL resident in EACH cabin? Or can a FL resident book more than one cabin?

Oh! And, what about any GA resident discounts? I had seen those at some point in the past...

From what I understand, a Florida resident has to be in every cabin. Now does that have to be an adult FL resident?

No discounts for July and October. The FL discount are usually released about 30 to 60 days prior to the cruise to fill up cabins that are left. I usually book at the regular rate and the keep my fingers crossed that the discount comes out. When it does, DCL either adjusts the rate or credits my account if I've paid in full.
There has to be a Florida resident in each cabin. I'm not sure if they have to be adults or not.

Anyone have a list of what dates are included?

I dont' have the exact dates since I was only worried about the Jan 3rd cruise. Simply call DCL and they'll give you the exact dates. All Seasons web site doesn't have any of the rates listed past Dec. 13th, they just haven't updated the site yet.

It looks as though they haven't updated the website to reflect these new FL res rates for 2004 as yet....

Dates for 7 night are Jan 10 & 24, Feb 28 and March 6. Drats, we're going 20 March which I suspect will not be included.

Does anyone know what you need to prove FL residency?

We don't currently live in FL, but DH is active duty military and is technically a FL resident. All his military paperwork lists FL as his state of residency & he has a FL driver's license and our cars are registered in FL. Does anyone know if this works?

I can't speak for DCL, but as a federal tax law matter, you are still FL residents.

You are simply domiciled elsewhere temporarily.

(Oh yes, in the service of our country. For that , I thank you.)

I can't believe DCL could/would take any different view point

Jim

That should be no problem. You should have something that lists FL as his official state of resident. I don't recall if it's on his ID card but it should be on the pay stub in one form or another. Don't forget there are military specials as well.

I'm no expert, but I would ask DCL, as his drivers license should be enough proof.

They might get suspicious if the docs get mailed out of state, and the billing address on the credit cards (which they can easily check, and probably routinely do if in doubt) are also out of state.

Having a FL drivers license DOES NOT constitute Florida residency. Having domicile in Florida for the required duration does. Do you pay state income tax in another state? If you are a Florida resident you don't.

If indeed one has made and supported the appropriate claims with the Florida Department of State, then one has established residency.
