2002 WDAC Convention Info

Just received info in the mail today from the Walt Disney Classics Collections Society Convention. It will be held at the Disneyland Hotel April 19-21, 2002. It will include "an exclusive & exciting backstage tour of the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank", a "one of a kind dinner experience inside DCA". There will be presentations featuring Sam McKim, Leonard Maltin & Tony Baxter.There will be a WDCC sculpture painting class, appearances by WDAC artists & sculptors, exclusive LE WDCC sculptures, animation art & logo merchandise for sale. (Remember, this is the convention where the Haunted Mansion Dangle & Jail Scene pins were sold).The convention is limited to 500 guests. Registration for previous convention guests until 12/1, then the public can book any remaining spots. Event only is $495 per person. Event & accommodations at the DL Hotel(2 nights) $707.75 per person based on double occupancy. Additional nights $212.75 per ROOM (not per person). Deposits are $200 per person, balance due 3/1/02.
No info or pictures on what the sculptures or logo merchandise will be. Is anyone thinking of going?

Wow sounds great I would love to go especially since it iis in California. Never been there and always wanted to go.
Would need a person to share expenses with.
Who all is going. I am wondering about cast member discount.

Hmm, I think I may have to pass on this one. Gotta save my pennies for Paris in June and Florida in August (gasp! what am I thinking?). But would love to come down to visit anyone for the weekend if you decide to come to CA for it! It's right after the April 15th tax deadline so I will need to relax!

Shirley, when I booked my convention package for Disneyana, I was a CM at the time. There isn't a discount for the package but you do get your discount on all merchandise purchased at the event.

Mine came in the mail yesterday but I have not gotten to read it yet. Would love to go, but I am not allowed to take vacation in April, so I probably won't go.

Shirley: When Anne & I went last year, we bought the convention only package and got our own accomidations with our cast discount. If you went, that would be the route you would take. I would probably stay off property, as you will still need to pay air. We can get in the studio anytime (being employees), but there is no tour. Sounds interesting.

Let the whining begin! I would love to go out to CA again. I have to save my vacation time, though, as I'm getting married next year!

Is there anyone going to WDAC that wants to swap favors with me for Disneyana stuff? I'm definitely going to Disneyana in August.

Jonie, don't feel bad about WDAC. I don't think I'm going and it's right here in my backyard. We have to save our pennies for the big one in August when the Divas meet for a reunion!
