200 loop closed

We are arriving on Friday for a full-hookup. Do I need to be worried about this affecting us?

Yes worry you should always worry when it comes to vacation. Vacation is all about stress that's right fun stress. Who needs work when vacation can stress you out.:thumbsup2

I'd definitely be calling if I had a preferred reservation, might want to pick a premium loop you like...

Preferred Pet should be ok right.....isn't that the 300 loop?

When we checked in last week, they upgraded us to a premium site because they were over-booked in the preferred pet. They only had 3 sites available in the 300 loop and luckly we weren't assigned to one of them because they were both short sites which we couldn't fit into comfortably.

Right now the 300 loop is fairly empty especially the part that backups up to the 200 loop and the roadway (the higher numbered sites). In fact, right now the entire fort is not that full.

Thanks for the on-site report.

I find this rather interesting.

If I recall correctly, you are usually at the Fort this time every year.

Would you say that the occupancy right now is normal for this time of year?

I know the Fort is usually packed to capacity for the last two weeks of December.

When they were doing the loop conversions, they scheduled the work so there were no loops closed during the last two weeks of December.

Now, it's rumored the 200 loop might be closed through the end of the year?

Odd.

Time will tell whether this rumor is true.

If it is, this would suggest that bookings are far lower than normal.

Thanks for the info. We are five days away from arrival...our first Fort Christmas.:santa:

We are curious to know the status of this report. We are scheduled to arrive in 7 days and reserved a premium site. If Preferred is closed they will more likely be sent to Premium, and Premium to Full Hook-up?

I wouldn't worry if you're in Premium - that's what most loops are anyway. Can't imagine they'd move a Premium ressie to a Full, as that's a pretty significant downgrade - in terms of cost at least, not to mention site size, sand pads, etc.

I would imagine that full hookup people should be ok also, unless they start moving Preferred people to Full, in which case someone is going to have to be upgraded to Premium.

Oh and yes, 300 is the only Preferred pet.

I've got a feeling this wasn't planned. Emergency, necessesary, etc.

I've been noticing over several trip reports that there have been quite a few sewer trucks around the Fort lately.

(Near the Settlement, in 600, etc., etc.) They also did a bunch of digging on the backside of 300 towards the old cabin and the old Swamp Trail.

The Fort Sewer system was put in over 30 years ago, and the entire Disney property in on a swamp.

Any change in a swamp can probably cause problems elsewhere and perhaps they finally figured out all of the recent, frequent sewer problems has it's source in the 200 Loop, so they are fixing it. They may have no choice.

What will probably happen is that if they have a capacity problem, they have probably told reservations to NOT open up new availability when cancellations come in. (Cancellations will come), and then upgrade anyone scheduled for preferred that they can't fit to Premium.

Problem solved.

:thumbsup2 I think Carol and Monique are right. They'll just close Reservations to any new bookings and they should be fine. Any preferred sites will be bumped up to Premium and we all know there are plenty of those. No one should worry about getting a site if you have a reservation.

Yeap, TCD you are right - what a memory. We are usually at the Fort over the winter for several months. Can't judge much on this trip yet because I haven't explored much of the campground this week. Fighting a cold so not going out too much. This weekend was crazy but that was to be expected - last weekend for locals before blackout dates kick in, plus the weather was great. It was a mass exodus on Sunday.

The 400, 500 and 700 loops are 2/3 full but can't say much about the others. I'm sure that's because they have moved preferred reservations to those loops. Going out to explore more later today since it's finally warming up alittle.

Have to question that bookings are lower than normal - if that were so, I would think that discounts would be more plentiful. It sounds like AAA, GP or AP were hard to get for Jan/Feb timeframe unless you wanted a partial hookup. It was easy to get a discount in that category but not the others. I've never had a problem getting AAA discounts since I book so far ahead but not this year. So I assumed that bookings were up but who knows:confused3:confused3
