how does that come to you? does it just show up automatically on your statement you get from guest service? or do you go claim it somewhere? and if you booked it through a ta, then, what? do you get it from them?

someone with info, please let me know. i'm sure there are lots of you who did rebook on board, and have gone on your 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 25th?, cruise...so please let me know. thank you! :flower:

You must book cruise onboard to receive the stateroom credit, which will be on account for you during your cruise ....it is a credit that can be used for anything onboard, charging tips, excursions et al......

You may, after booking onboard through DCL, transfer your reservation to your TA and retain this stateroom credit....

Whenever booking onboard any cruise line, ALWAYS, request that
whatever they are offering you is in writing (on the cruise line letterhead)
Ship, Date, Onboard Credit Amount and signed by the cruise line
representative that booked you.

It is sooooo important to carry this off the ship with you. DCL most
of the time if you do not request the letter will give you a business
card size card with your booking I.D. on it. There have been quite
a few times that guests have had trouble once they were off the
ship of who said what.

This way you will have the persons name you dealt with and the offer
they gave you with all the other important information to carry with
you on the new cruise you booked. This way if there is ANY QUESTION
at the end of your trip you have a very valid letter to show guest
relations if needed.

You beat me to it, Dana! :) You can always hassle with the DCL CSRs to have them fax you a copy of your account showing the credit but next time I will get it in writing on the ship. ;)

ok, maybe i wasn't clear on it...yes, i did rebook on our first cruise...and got the $200 onboard credit thing. my question was, does the credit just show up automatically on your account? or do we request that at guest services? (maybe bring our confirmation). we transferred our reservations to a ta we were working with, and it does state on our confirmation there. so are we all set for receiving the credit? and we don't have to do a thing? or do we still need to bring our letter/confirmation/whatever?

again, thank you for getting me the answers! really appreciate it! :flower:

If you have it in writing, definitely take it with you on the ship to give you proof in case a computer glitch changes the info on your account at GS. I would confirm within the first couple days that they show the credit. Having it in writing will help you get it credited in case it disappears.

It SHOULD just appear on your statement as a credit. You should not have to do anything. BUT sometime after boarding (when they are not busy) check with Guest Services to make sure it is noted and being credited. Somehow everything that is supposed to be automatic seldom works that way!

It won't appear on the documents that you get prior to boarding. It will be part of your stateroom account when you arrive. :)

Here's another question in the same vein...

If we've rebooked and we need to change the dates and transfer to a travel agent, which way is the best to go about it.

Change the date with DCL & then transfer to ta
or
Transfer to TA and then change date.

I'm figuring the first would be best, however I just want to know what you experienced returners do. Also, would it be out of the question to have DCL fax me something about the $200 credit?

Allison

I suggest making the transfer and asking the TA to handle the date change.

The agent should confirm that the stateroom credit is there when the transfer is made and reconfirm when the date is changed. :)

when you transfer your on board resiie to a ta do you sometimes get a better rate?

A few agencies, such as Dreams offer rebates that can be applied to your onboard booked reservation. Since these offers are made directly by the agencies, they can be applied.

If the agency has a lower rate, chances are that it's a discounted group space that the TA is offering. Unfortunately, DCL does not allow these offers to be combined with an onboard booking.

Sometimes the difference is enough to make it worthwhile to switch from the onboard rate to the group rate. Be sure to factor in the SBC that you would be losing if you go that route. :)
