I haven't gotten this pin (yet... thinking positively and doing all the tricks w/ itineraries that seem to be working for others). I have noticed that October 8-10th seems to be blacked out, due to Columbus Day weekend. We are booked Oct 5th-11th. Has anyone booked over that weekend? Did you have to pay rack rate if using that pin? I really don't want to change our trip dates, we can go for 6 nights over Columbus Day with minimal school missed by the kiddos any other time frame we could really only squeak out 5 nights over a weekend. It is worth it to me to pay more to get the extra night/days but if I do get this pin I would LOVE to get 40% off all six nights (but I would take 3).

Disney, please send me a pin... any time now would be great. I promise I will spend all the $ saved in hotel costs in the parks on souveniers and food. Oh, and a few adult beverages also.

I was wondering the same thing.

DS's birthday is the 11th, so we'll at least want to stay overnight on the 10th. I tried renting DVC points for a villa near the magic kingdom but they were all gone due to the F&W festival at Epcot. So, now I'm chomping at the bit hoping for a pin. I got one last year when I was considering a trip in Feb, but we had to forego that trip...so we didn't use it.

I wonder if I can try and use it even though it was for specific dates....

This is crazy. Let me know what you find out.

You will have to pay rack rate for the nights that are blacked out. Your PIN discount will be applied to the nights before and after the black out dates.
:)

We are booked for dates that include that timeframe -- got the 40% discount for the first two nights but are paying rack rate for the last two nights because of the black out dates.

I too had been waiting for some sort of hope for a discount during the Columbus Day weekend. Just wanted to let everyone know that the bounceback offer does NOT blackout Columbus Day weekend. So if there is any chance anyone will be at disney soon, look for the bounceback deal. We were just there and I jumped at the deal.

We're in exactly the same boat - booked at Bay Lake Tower from the 9th through the 14th, and hoping for a PIN that will at least help with the days that aren't blacked out. I've spoken to a couple of CMs over the last month or so, and asked about discounts. Both discouraged me from changing our dates (I was thinking about changing our arrival date to Columbus Day Monday the 11th), and the second CM said that public discount rates for the fall were likely, and that Columbus Day weekend isn't normally a blackout period. That doesn't exactly fit with the pin code blackout dates, but I left our trip as is. Now I'm sort of waiting to see what happens next....good luck to everyone waiting for a pin!

I am having the same issue. Want to book 10-2 thru 10-9 and hoping not to pay rack for the last of our trip. It is fall break for us and we really have no other traveling options because DD already takes a few days off during the year to travel for gymnastics team. Don't want them to miss more school if I can help it.

I am seriously looking at US with RPR at $129 a night. This rate extends until check out on 10/8. It is tempting.

that's exactly what I did once I saw that weekend wasn't blacked out. 10/6-10/12 for us.:woohoo:

Hi there... OP here.... I DID end up getting a pin code via email, and I wasn't able to apply it for Columbus Day weekend. We changed our dates to a little later in the month and shortened our trip to 5 nights instead of 6 (due to only wanting the boys to miss 3 days of school) BUT, we are staying at the Poly with 40% off so I think it is worth it! If we are offered Bounceback while down there I will absolutely be booking over Columbus Day weekend for next year, just to know we have that option!

Also..... just curious about Hurricane season, historically speaking, does it ever extend in October and potentially over Columbus Day weekend? I was hearing that this is supposed to be a bad year for hurricanes. Not that I wouldn't go if I could have.... the weather forecast generally doesn't stop me (mostly because they NEVER get it right anyways.... great job to have.... wish I'd thought of it when I was going to college).

What exactly is the 20/30/40 discount? We just made ressies and was surprised to find a 40% discount applied to our name off the room only rate. Hoping this is the best deal we can get at WDW for our October 21-27 trip ?? :confused3
