Hi All,

We're travelling to WDW with our 2yr old DS for the first time - Im not looking forward to the flight !

I was wondering whether anyone had any experience of using a car seat on a Virgin plane ? I read on the Families board that most people take the car seat on the plane and seat the child in that for the flight.

Any experiences to share ? eg: do all car seats fit, is it a problem taking it on the plane etc etc

TIA

Martin

Hi Martin,

Unfortunately you can't take car seats onboard a Virgin Plane :( You have to book in advance their own infant seats but from my own personal experience you don't always get them even when you have requested them.

It's still worth taking your own car seat with you though as some of the car hire ones can be a bit manky!!

Hi Martin,

No we've had no problems fitting the seats and we take out 3 kids seats on every holiday!!! The only downside is carrying them:D

Good luck

I agree. Take your own car seat. Last tuime we hired Alamo's car seat. We were not impressed, it was dirty old and did not seem to fit properly. We had not instruction on how to use it.

This time we are taking our own car set. ... Use it going to airport. Put it in a black plastic bag. Tie it with string and label it.

And for anyone who wants the legal info for infants I received this email from the Florida state police last week.

I am responding to your email regarding child passenger safety during your
trip to Florida. Thank you for taking the time to ask about what is require
to keep your child safe while on vacation here.
Your question was:

Our child will be 3 years old. Do we need a full child seat or is a booster
seat all we need ?

It is a requirement under Florida Statute 316.613 that your child be
PROPERLY secured in a child restraint device that meets Federal Motor
Vehicle Standard 213 (see fine print on the side of your car seat that would
state that it meets this criteria). If your child is over 40 pounds, a full
back or backless booster will be an appropriate choice. The term "proper" in
our law requires you to use the car seat as directed by the respective car
seat manufacturer.

I think it is a wise thought to bring your own car seat, as long as it meets
the previously mentioned requirement. If it is a Britax, it should meet both
European and US safety standards.

I hope this was helpful. I will be out of the office until July 15th, but if
you have any further questions please feel free to email me at
:EMAIL ADDRESS REMOVED: and I will assist you with any other questions.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the info.

Not sure how were going to manage with all the "stuff" DS seems to need !!!
