Hi all

Can someone advised what happens when we go to a buffet such as Inventions with a 2 year old? The prices all seem to start at 3yrs old. Does this mean he get to eat for free, I find this very hard to believe from Disney. But if that's how it works that would be cool.

Thanks in advance

steve

When we went to Inventions in May 2005, my 2 daughters were aged 11 months and 2 1/2, they both ate for free :thumbsup2

Also last year my daughter aged 2 yrs and 10 months old ate at plaza gardens buffet for free too.

That is great thanks, woud hate to think I would be paying for a meal when sometimes he just looks at the food on his plate as if it would poison him.

such a fab question - that hadnt even occured to me!!
so, wud this be at most places??? cos we are thinking of gettin the half board vouchers - so i guess that wud mean we didnt pay for the 2yr one, and he wud eat free?? that will save us some more pennies.....:rotfl2:

and steve, our 2 yr is also like urs, some days he will scoff a whole plate of food, then others, look at it as if it was poison!

We had half board vouchers last year, is was not a problem for my under 3 to eat at buffet resturants. BUT it was a problem was for table service, we ate at silverspur and they wouldn't let her have a meal for free, so she had bits from everyone else but they did give her a free pudding. We also ate at Anettes Diner with the half board vouchers, I think we may have been lucky to who we spoke to as they gave her a free kids meal:)

When we went at nye my niece ate free at buffets ,they told us she could eat for free and at table service my sister just asked for an extra plate and she shared what here brothers had- it wasnt a problem- this was at silverspur, the kids portions were massive- but then at cafe mickey they were smaller so my niece had her own meal- which i think was paid for. So i guess is depends where you go.

Yeah I figured he would only eat free at the buffets, I am quite sure with a spare plate he will eat quite happily from what we get especially if it's steak.

Thanks for all the answers, it is something I have been meaning to ask for a while but never got around to it.

29 days to go, hope my wife remembered to cross another day off his chart and only 27 days until he has his first introduction to large characters when we go to see Playhouse Disney live :)

wanted to say thanks for all the info on food!!
tbh, if the question hadnt been raised, i wudnt have known, and prob ended up paying when i needn't have!!!

am still deciding on half board or half board plus vouchers atm, cant find a proper list of restaurants included, as the ones i keep finding contradict and disney site says valid up til 3rd april!!!!

(if half board, meals wud be at chuck wagon - buffet so no prob for 2yo, silver spur - hopefully no prob, as pp said large portions, so will ask for another plate, and annettes - hopefully no prob again, will share with 2yo - shud all help with my diet anyhow!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

then, cafe mickey, i will pay for him, cos then i can stuff him up ready for the trip home ;)

thanks again

Officially buffets are free for under 3's, and you can't buy the half board vouchers for them as they are classed as an infant. We paid for my DD (then 2) at all table service restaurants but tbh this was because a) she sometimes eats a lot (note the sometimes) and b) to share her plate with her brother would have started WW3. At buffets all you pay for are their drinks (if not included in buffet).

thanks for that!!
it is daft, as to go for table service each meal, and then buy a meal for the 2yo, it wud cost MORE than getting the half board voucher!!!:confused3
have just emailed disney to find out exactly which restaurants are included in each meal plan, as they are all diff and i want to be sure!!!
our 2yo also SOMETIMES eats alot, just depends which way the wind is blowing!!!!
anyone know what plaza gardens is like?? wondering whether to perhaps swap silverspur for plaza gardens???

We've just come back from DLRP with my 2 year old twins. They ate for free at the buffets and could have eaten for free (baby food and yogurt) at Cafe Mickey. However at all the other restaurants we used, (Rainforest Cafe, Walts, Cafe Mickey and Annette's Diner), we just asked for extra plates and they shared ours. Have a great time!

Thanks all for the information you have shared, can't wait to instroduce Josh to the buffets.
