I was thinking about starting 2 workouts a day. One in the morning (6 am) and one in the afternoons after work (4pm). Just wondering if anyone else does this. If so do you feel you get more tired? I have fairly pathetic stamina and I get bored so I was thinking if I could break it up I could do 6-8 miles on the eliptical instead of the 3-4 I do now. All suggestions welcome! TIA!

Several years back I did exactly that. I felt it helped me get to a size 8 quicker. My schedule was 5 mornings a week for working out. Two or three of those days I did an evening 30 minute walk. I read somewhere that it revs up your metabolism. Due to unforseen medical problems of one of my children, I quit working out & gained back the weight. Now, I'm back again and looking forward to those size 8's again. Nowadays though, I'm lucky just to get in one workout a day. It sounds like you are working hard!

Yes well I'm trying to get back down to size 2, I dont see that happening though b/c i have quite the wide hips, but I'd like to be completely toned at least. No more flab!!!

Wow, you are really committed! I applaud you! You are doing 2-3 miles already on the ellipticle at a time? How long does that take? 40 minutes?

I personally wouldn't be able to do more than one workout a day without getting very tired and burning out. Right now I do 30-40 minutes a day, and I rotate that between the treadmill and ellipticle. I'm finding I get my very best workouts from the treadmill..... I switch between doing continuous hills during one workout, and on the next workout I might alternate between running five minutes and walking 30 minutes. Calorie-wise, the elliptical workouts show that I've burned more, but when I look at actual weight loss and toning, the treadmill seems to beneift me the best.

A couple times a week I add about 20 minutes of weights after the treadmill. Seems to work well.... I've lost about 15 pounds, and believe that I'm at my ideal weight and probably more fit than I've ever been.

Good luck to you, please let us know how you fare with the two workout a day... I'd love to hear!

I do b/w 3-4 miles a day in about 20-35 min depending on the resistence and how i feel that day. I have bad ankles and knees from many years of abusive cheerleading so the treadmill is out for me. I need something that is low impact. I'll keep you updated. The double workouts start tomorrow. I'm hoping to burn b/w 600-800 calories a day.

I work out twice a day at my gym, 5 days a week. I do weights and toning at lunchtime and then cardio afterwork. My gym is at work so there's no commute, just a 3 minute walk. I find I can do alot more by breaking up the weights and cardio. I also run on the weekends, but I make sure I have one day of rest every week. :)

There is no problem with doing cardio twice a day. However, I think you would be much better off splitting your workouts into weight training and cardio, then just 2 cardio sessions.

Also, check your diet. If your diet is in order, 2 workouts a day may not be necessary.

I do also do weight lifting everyday. Altering b/w upper and lower body. As for my diet I keep my calories b/w 1100 and 1500 a day during the week but on the weekends I splurge (I'm only 23 and its the sumemr). So my diet is also in order. I am not overweight by any means. I just want to tone the little flab I have hanging out on my hips and tummy.

Do you want to do 2 cardio sessions in addition to your weight lifting?

I'd ideally like to do 20-30 min of cardio in the morning with 15 min of weights. Then 20-30 min of cardio in the afternoon with a possibility of another 15 min of weights.

I would do 2 workouts but keep the weights and cardio separate. Both workouts should be around 40-45 minutes. Thats all you need, and that will be more beneficial then splitting up cardio and weight training.

I think I"m just going to do some cardio in the morning and then cardio and weights in the afternoon (double workouts 2-3 days per week). The whole point of me breaking it up is b/c I get bored doing 40-45 min of cardio or weights at one time. Thanks for the advice though.

Ok although attempted I just dont have the energy level. I work full time and go to grad school. I wish I had more energy, but until I have only one full time job/school activity I will have to deal with one workout a day. (sigh)
