2 wks deluxe or 3 wks mod?

Ok, as the title suggests we have received quotes for both deluxe with free DDP and moderate with free QSDP. Prices are coming out cheaper to stay 3 weeks at a mod. We do like to eat the occasional character meal and TS. We are coming for the UK as a family of 4 - 2 adults and 2 kids (7 and 22months).

Our favourite resorts from the choices are WL and POFQ. While WL is my dream resort, being able to extend the stay by a week is making the decision difficult.

What would you do?

Go with WL :wizard:

I would go 2 weeks at a deluxe with the regular DDP. I wouldn't be able to eat QS meals only for 3 weeks and upgrading from the QSDP to the DDP is cost prohibitive.

:thumbsup2
I couldn't eat three weeks of CS meals, either. For years we would eat mostly counter service meals, with only a couple of table service meals on our week long trips. It got old, fast. Now we are going to more TS meals and I'm enjoying our trips a lot more.

And the WL is a really nice resort. You would have a balcony and great access to MK and the monorail resorts via the boats. It is really nice there. :goodvibes

I say go with 2 week as well. The deludes are really nice and if this gives the chance to stay at your dream resort I would take that over an extra week since it would already be 2 weeks. I also love a lot of the table service restaurants and wouldn't want only QS for 3 weeks.

I do like the other suggested option as well though :)

I believe POFQ is excluded from the free dining promos. If that specific resort is the main selling point of booking a mod, you may want to reconsider!

POR is eligible, though the FD rooms sell out quickly. What are your potential travel dates?

This isn't true. We are staying at POFQ and have free dining. Actually have had it at POFQ for the last several years. Additionally, to answer your question, as much as we love the WL, the extra week would be my choice! POFQ is a lovely resort and you will not be disappointed. Have a magical trip!

I'd do two weeks at a deluxe. I love Disney and I have a fantastic time when we go, but 21 days seems too long to me. I could not deal with that many days of QS meals. I think I'd rather stay CL and do the DDP for two weeks. The CL breakfasts were really good and had a lot of healthy options. You have a lot more choices for dinners.

There are some promos that POFQ is excluded from. I received a free dining pin, and POFQ was excluded. Not sure about the public free dining offer. Regardless, OP is from the UK and their offers are different anyhow.

While I am at heart a Deluxe girl and I love WL, I say go for three weeks at POFQ. It's nice too.

And, you would have plenty of time to see other things in Florida, like Seaworld, Universal, the beaches, etc.

No wrong choice here!. With POR and POFQ, that access to DTD makes it much easier to keep everyone entertained.
I think I'd go three weeks for my crew, even though it might push the tolerance levels a somewhat. We did a 17 day stay in 2011, and nobody got too antsy with each other, but we did spread it over 3 different resorts.

Best wishes!

You're back here! When did you have another baby!?!?! (well obviously almost two years ago!)

My choice would be two weeks at WL but you can't really listen to me because I would probably choose WL over any other option. :lmao:

What would you do?

Why not 4 weeks at a value, LOL? OMG, I can't imagine going for more than a week...ok, MAYBE 2....ok a week and a half would be alright, lol. I would probably be bored after awhile. Anyway....good luck deciding! I would go with whatever's cheaper.

I think the 2 week/3 week, deluxe/moderate, QS/TS is only part of the decision. What about the temperments of your childen & you & DH?

At their ages, would the children, & parents, sleep well with everyone in the same room - & for 3 weeks?

Would you & DH like a balcony for "chilling" while the children nap, & for morning coffee, & evening relaxing after putting the children to bed?

With the young ages of your children, would TS be enjoyable or battles?

Because of your children's ages, won't you spend more time in the room to keep them from melting down due to being worn out? We did when ours were small. We also spent more time at the pool. I'm not familiar with the WL pool, so I don't know which one is best for your children's age group. Although sometimes December can be too cool to really enjoy the pool - luck of the draw; never know.

Would you prefer the convenience of a short boat ride to MK versus a bus from POFQ?

When our children were that age, we spent a lot of time at the campgrounds - riding ponies, letting them run & holler, renting a golf cart/bicycles, dining at the informal Trail's End, playing on the beach. If that sounds good to your family, then WL is convenient.

Lots of things to consider. Personally, our family would be better with the shorter time period in one small room. That's how I would make my decision.

Costs - Will you rent a car? 2 weeks cost vs 3 weeks. Food costs above food plan - 2 weeks vs 3 weeks. Tips - 2 wks vs 3 wks.

I see your dilemma, but it's such a great one! I would chose WL even though we always stay at POFQ & love it. But 2 weeks in a hotel room with 2 small children is enough for me (& for them & DH, I bet)!

Have a great trip!
