Generally antibiotics kick in and the patient is feeling better within two-four days. What's the issue here?

At least they are on them now, and not getting sick when you get down there. That would be horrible! All should be feeling well by the time you leave. Just take care of yourself so you don't start feeling yucky.

Thanks for listening - guess I should have explained myself better - my kids don't react well to antibiotics - sometimes they work, sometimes they don't, it's always a wait and see type of thing. They are both on 14 day treatments, and they have to finish them before we see how they worked. If they didn't, another antibiotic for another round. Therefore, my problem is, I am hoping they won't have to be taking more antibiotics on vacation cuz they tend to upset their tummies. Anyhoo, enuffadat - have a super dee duper day all!

What are they on them for?

Most often when antibiotics don't work it's because the illness really never required an antibiotic in the first place (it's a virus). Doctors are usually pretty good an prescribing the right antibiotic for the specific illness.

I hear you on the tummy troubles. I took an antibiotic 10 days ago for something that, in hindsight, did not require it. It has taken me exactly 8 days to get my stomach back to normal.

We took one child to Disney last year on antibiotics. See if you can get chewables so you don't need to worry about refrigeration. If they like yogurt, that helps with the tummy issues for my kids when they are on antibiotics.

Someone in our family always seems to catch a bug on vacation...hope your kids feel better soon.

BTW, be careful w/them in FL...some antibiotics can cause sensitivity to the sun (i.e. easily burn).
