Hi everyone,

Just throwing this question out there. We have booked a two week trip at Disneyland from 7th February 2016. Aside from a day trip to San Diego Zoo, we will be spending the rest of the time at Disney and we will have AP's so able to go into the parks everyday. We are two adults and I'm a little worried that we will be bored during the trip. My sister has never been to Disneyland and I have been once for four days. We usually visit WDW and stay for 5-6 weeks at a time (we travel from Australia so longer trips work our financially more viable) We have never become bored during our WDW trips. I know several rides and shows are down during our trip (Fantasmic, Soarin, WOC is down for a few days into our trip I believe) I will say that we aren't park open to close people, we are more likely to sleep in and arrive later in the morning. We will have a few sit down meals and at least one or two tours as well. We are staying on property so going back to the resort for a swim if it's warm enough is possible as well.

So thoughts everyone. Will we get bored?

Thanks!

I don't think you'll be bored (of course, as a DISer, I'm biased!). It sounds like your touring style is more relaxed, which will be great with the time you have. You will have plenty of time to do everything you like and then do it again, if you want! There also are bus tours that leave from the DLH, so you might want to look into those for a day or two. There is a bus that goes to South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, which is a high end mall with great stores and restaurants -- easily a day trip if you look at everything. There is a movie theater in DtD for an evening, especially if there are several movies you want to see. Book a spa day at the Mandara Spa in the GCH (there is an AP discount). Enjoy the atmosphere, soak up the details, make some magic for other guests. There are so many ways to enjoy DLR in addition to the rides and attractions.

ETA: We saw a shuttle bus going to the Citadel Outlet Mall today, so you could do another shopping day there without having to rent a car.

I don't think you will be bored there is a lot to do at Disneyland. Since your touring style is more laid back I feel like that time will be good.
Have you thought about maybe going to Knotts Berry Farm? Its a small little amusement park, the rides are more rollercoasterish but I still enjoy the atmosphere of Knotts.

Nope. I did the exact same thing at the beginning of this year, our group was all adults. When we go again, it will be for a solid 2 weeks. A few thoughts in no particular order:
-Two weeks gives you time for everything, we didn't schedule anything at all. There was no rush or stress on time. Do what you want, when you want.
-You can spend a whole day just looking at 'stuff' in the parks. From all the cool shops and merch to the architecture and little design elements in every area of the park, it's perfectly entertaining to just walk around and ABSORB the park itself.
-A lot of stuff was down when we went. The train was. It made getting around a little slower and more tedious, but it was okay because we could take breaks whenever we felt like it as there was no rush. We also didn't lack for things to do, even though so much was closed.
-Take in all the shows and parades! They're fun, and even more fun when you have the time.

There's always DTD for a little change of scenery, and if it's a crazy-busy day at DL (I would just not even bother going on Valentine's day or even maybe the 13th at all. It's going to be PACKED. Or make that your not-riding-but-just-walking-around day) there are plenty of neat things nearby to see and do that are free. Outlet malls, the Anaheim Marketplace (which is a GREAT place to see a lot of Mexican-American culture and try some authentic food), etc.

I didn't spend much time in the park on Saturdays, it was quite busy and instead I used those days for shopping and stuff outside the parks. Because of our APs, we usually just popped in later in the day for a wander-around and jumped on any rides that had short lines.

I never get bored ;) And as other shave said you can plan accordingly and not need to rush. Spread the days and just relax :)

I would get bored in a 2 week trip to DL, but if you're the type to spend 5+ weeks at WDW, I suspect you'll be just fine with 2 weeks at DL.

We are from Australia too and we do 2 weeks at a time every time we go. We will be there next month and it will be our 5th, 2 week stay. We are relaxed tourers too. We just chill and wander around Disneyland riding at our own pace, eat at a million different places, do a few day trips, visit some outlets. We find it super relaxing.
Have a great time (i think our trips will overlap )

If you think you'll be bored, then you can send me in your place! :thumbsup2 I think it sounds totally relaxing and you will have a great time!

We like 10+ day trips. It gives you time to see everything. We really enjoyed Great moments with Mr. Lincoln?. and viewing the gallery on the way out. Longer trips give you the opportunity to find these hidden gems. loved the theater on main street too! I could stay in there for hours if they had benches.

I honestly don't think anyone can answer for you.
My DW starts getting a bit bored by the third day but I just fall into a rhythm and could just about spend my life there.
The good thing is there is plenty to do in the area and with that much time you could check out Knots, Medieval Times and lots of other attractions.

You spend 5+ weeks at WDW???? Holy cow! First, I'm jealous. Second, I need to find out how you have enough $$$ to stay at a hotel that long! As for 2 weeks at DL, i'm going to go different than most people here and say that it's very possible. This last year, we were able to do 5 full days and 2 partial days at DL on 2 different occasions. I can't say that we were bored, but we were right on the verge of it. If not for a concert event we hit, or a trip to LegoLand, I think we would've hit the boredom stage by week #2. But that's just me. Remember there's only 2 parks in Anaheim, not 4 like at WDW. I would definitely find out if there's some fun events around the area you can check out.

2 weeks, there's a lot of details you can check out with that kind of time. I would plan rides on the slower days (Tuesday/Wednesday), casual strolls around the park on busier days. A day with a Cabana by the pool if this tickles your fancy. Some time in DTD, maybe catch a concert. Also stroll around the hotel areas too, always cool to have a tour.

For offsite activities in the area, beach one day might be good (Huntington or Newport). Medieval Times/Pirates Adventure in Buena Park. Could do Knotts too. For shopping a trip to Brea Mall would be worth it. There's a Melting Pot restaurant (fondue) and Yard House (100 beers) nearby. Other nearby Malls include Block at Orange (Outlets) and Santa Ana Mainplace.

Venturing to LA, checking out El Capitan and Chinese Theater in Hollywood. Daily tours from Disneyland. Burbank Studios would be worth it too. Maybe do Universal Studios and Citywalk if feeling adventuresome. If you really dig the good life Beverly Hills is there.

For your San Diego trip, be sure to check out Gaslamp district in downtown. SeaWorld too depending on your opinion. Legoland is another fun place for the kid in everyone.

How bored you get depends on the individual. But you may get tired and burned out a little. Pace yourself. Don't focus on rides. Don't ever be in a hurry to do anything. Be in the experience. Stop. Sit. Watch. Believe in magic.

I love DL with all my heart, but there is no way I could spend a solid two weeks there! I would be done after about 5 days. There is so much to do in So Cal, maybe you can add a few things on?

We are here 17 days now. We take our time, ride what we feel like, see the shows we want, and take our time. Yesterday, we didn't head into the park until 1pm. We do have friends in the area, so we do have visitors. We do this once a year, and we enjoy being able to do it our our pace instead of feeling like we didn't have time to do everything.

Since you have the time for it I would also do a day trip to the San Diego Safari Park. It's very different from the San Diego Zoo. It's a longer drive but such a neat place and since this sounds like a big trip for you I would point you in the direction of the Caravan Safari. An open-air caravan through the actual exhibits and animal feeding (we fed a giraffe and a rhino). Truly a unique experience and if you decide to go for it do the last tour of the day, the twilight tour I believe it is called, because that is when the animals are most active. The drive to and from Anaheim was doable for us.

Greetings Dis Princess. Thank you for sharing your dilemma with us. Your question is important and can help all of us enjoy the parks MORE, so I believe it deserves some serious thought. Might I make a proposal? If you are someone who does weeks at WDW, I'm guessing you have access to resources and might be willing to fund some legitimate scientific research on this question. My wife and I are available next week and would be willing to sample the biometric data that is most strongly correlated with/related to boredom. I will send her away from the park to do other things, as the others have suggested, and I will focus on the parks. Then I will conduct statistical analysis on the data to provide you with the most scientific response possible to your question. What do you think;)

What a marvelous dilemma. Please keep us up to date on your thought process and experience. I'm pretty sure we will all get much vicarious enjoyment. G'day!

We are heading back for our second DLR trip in June and our family will be staying 9 nights/10 days, this is the exact amount of time we spent there on our first trip in 2013. We too made sure it was a more relaxed trip where we would sleep in during the day (we did do some Magic mornings) and have some pool time/DTD time then later on during the day we would head to the parks to close them down. It really worked out great for us (we too stayed on property the whole time and will be doing so again this upcoming trip). We also have thought about renting a car for a day or so to drive up the coast and go to a beach plus head towards LA and do some sightseeing, but that is still to be determined. I hope you guys have a great trip.

I did 2 days at Disneyland in 1990. My longest Disney vacation was WDW in 2008. We were there for like 10 days. We were burnt out at the end. So two weeks at DLR would be way too long for me.
