2 week trip no car

Hi all.

We are planning a 2 week trip for next year and wondered how difficult/expensive it would be to try and do the trip without having to book a car ?

FYI its just two adults. so no need to worry about buggy's and car seats.

We plan on staying onsite at Disney. So can use Dis transport for most things. But going to the outlets, supermarkets and universal will have to be ride share.

Is this crazy trying to do it without a car or will we be fine ?

You haven't said how often you plan to leave disney property.

We would likely just get groceries when we arrive for the whole trip so now it's a single rideshare to the outlets.

If we were doing Universal I would be staying there to get the early entry and unlimited line skip. So that's one more leg.

So for us it's not that hard at all.

We are two seniors who did almost two weeks on property a few years ago and it was so relaxing for my husband to not have to drive. We ordered supplies from Instacart but I know there are more options now. We did strictly Disney, though.

You haven't said how often you plan to leave disney property.

No idea to be honest. Couple of Mall trips and supermarket runs. airport. Cant see us needing to leave property too much.

So could cut 2/3 days from Boardwalk for Universal. But might break the bank !

If you really do not need to leave property much, you should be fine using car services/taxis. If you know of a day or two where a car would be more helpful, maybe multiple stops, you could see about a car rental for just a day or two. I have done this on vacations in other places. So far, I have not really wanted/need to leave WDW property on my fly in trips where I would not have a car.

It all depends on Where you are from . Are you out of state but within driving distance

OR do you have to fly to get to Disney ?

If you are within in Florida State then your car is the way to go.

Then your choice of Eating out , ( away from Disney ) & shopping is good.

Also you can " take time out " from the Parks & do a bit of sightseeing

When I looked for a resort with fast passes. its currently $350 a night. Boardwalk renting points at say $18 a point is about $310 so not a huge amount in it I guess.

Coming from UK so will have to fly.

Its about $900 for two weeks for a car at the moment. That feels like it would buy a lot of ride shares !

Not crazy at all. And not difficult at all.

Figure $15 to $25 per ride and you won't be spending $900 (and parking fee at your resort). To hit $900 that's about 36 trips.
Even if you figure $35 per ride that's 25 rides to add up to $900.
Do you think you'll be taking more than 11 round trips during your stay?

Part of it might depend on when your trip is. Is it during a really busy time? If not, I think you would be totally fine not renting a car and just using ride-shares. If it's during a really busy time, you would probably still be totally fine not renting a car. Just be aware that the ride shares might be more expensive during busier times. Most likely not that much more expensive, but just something to be aware of.

If it's during a really busy time, you would probably still be totally fine not renting a car. Just be aware that the ride shares might be more expensive during busier times. Most likely not that much more expensive, but just something to be aware of.

I doubt we would be doing 11 round trips. Most of the trips will be to the outlets or couple of trips to Walmart or other super markets

It looks like you'll be fine not hiring a car. Even at the high end of a ride share, two or three shopping trips and a couple of trips to Universal you'll be way under the $900.

I love going during this time of the year from a crowd perspective. It's usually not too busy. But the heat and humidity during this time of the year is hard to handle. This past year I've been seeing lots of people wearing a new style of neck fans. It goes around your neck and there is a little fan on each side of your head blowing up at your face. I think I might invest in one of these before our next "summer" trip!

It’s just mall shopping and outlet stores don’t have the seconds and deep discounts nearly as much as the used to. I just can’t imagine what would be better shopping in the US vs. the UK at this point in time. Now, this could be me being completely unfamiliar with what someone from the Uk would view as better to shop for in the US.

US prices are still cheaper than UK in most cases. Esp for American brands. So outlet gives that extra discount

If you compare a Kate Spade UK outlet to a US one. Same bag will be very similar in price in £ and $. So you would save. For example a bag online is currently £110 vs $121 with tax. So around £92

We also dont realy have big outlet mall or even big malls in general. We have Bicester Village what's a high end outlet. (most stuff is made for the outlets) Then a few smaller outlets around the country.

Also id like to go tot he Disney outlet !
