If you were going to go to one of the premium restaurants under the dining plan (2 TS credits), which one would it be and why? We are a family (DH, me, 3 kids all well-mannered, 9, 9 and 11). TIA.

We are doing Brown Derby for our trip! ;)

I'm interested to see what responses you get though!

We did Jiko on our trip. Me, DH and 2 DDs (4 and 6). Of course we were staying at AKL, so that made it easier. But when I was trying to decide it was between California Grill and Jiko. Not having to "travel" for dinner that night (our last night) was the deciding factor. It turned out to be a great decision! Jiko as awesome.

If I had to chose just one, I would pick Flying Fish. Yachtsman Steakhouse is a very close second.

IMO don't think kids will appreciate Flying Fish or Yachtsman

go CRT... They will love seeing wishes from the 15th floor... my kids did and they were 14 & 15 at the time.

Brown De4by. It was great! Best meal of our trip, and we had some good ones.

We did California Grill and my 6 and 9 year olds loved it. They were very good. The server told us when handing us the bill "we have adults that come here that aren't as well behaved."

We had 5 nights on the plan and my wife and I wanted to eat at some nice places but we wanted to include the kids so we sold it as: two "fun" places (kids), two "nice" places (mommy and daddy) and one "fun & nice" (both).

We did Chef Mickeys and Whispering Canyon (fun). Spoodles and LeCellier (nice) and then the California Grill was fun and nice. Fun because we could see the MK from our table and watch wishes which my girls loved.

California Grill or Artist Point. Artist Point is a bit quieter, so California Grill may be a better bet. The kids blend in with the hustle and bustle. I prefer the food at Artist Point, though.

Isn't Wishes at 10 pm? I have reserved CA Grill, but did it for earlier. I would love to see Wishes from there but do they serve that late? Is it possible to get a 9:30 pm reservation?

With kids that age, I would vote for the Hollywood Brown Derby's Fantasmic package or the Flying Fish!

Keep in mind, a ressie at CG doesn't necessarily have much bearing on when you're seated- especially if you ask nicely to wait for a window table. You'll still spend a few minutes waiting in the bar area, which is very nice, btw.

The pacing of the meal is fairly leisurely, although they'll customize to your taste and needs. They know people would like to see Wishes, and even though I always think I'll be done way before it starts, I always find myself watching it over coffee and dessert. They time the service really well around the show. I generally make an 8-8:30 PM reservation when I want to see Wishes.

Conversely, if you *don't* want to stay for Wishes, let your server know so that they don't pace the meal to be timed with the show. They are very accommodating either way.

We like to have dessert during Wishes and watch from the table if we have a window seat. Otherwise, the server will generally hold our dessert order and serve it to us when we come back from the observation deck.

It really is my favorite way to watch Wishes. :)

Wow, thought that after reading how difficult it was to secure dining times at certain restaurants that I'd run into some trouble with mine. Guess the parks won't be too busy after all the first week of January. My wonderful TA asked for and got us O'Hanas, LeCellier, Sci-Fi, LTT, Hoop-Dee-Doo and Teppanyaki at the times we wanted. Best of luck to all of you! By the way, LeCellier looks pretty pricey, so wanted to make sure I got it for dinner before they raise it to 2 TS credits.

When we went Wishes was at 9:15PM because it was MVMCP and it was the Holiday wishes. It was our only chance to see it because we did not splurge for the xmas party. Wishes the rest of the week was at 8PM...

DW and myself ate at YS and CG last week on the dining plan. Both were very good, but CG at the top of the list. One of the best meals we have had anywhere. Ressie was at 5:30, beautiful view of the sunset and then the lights of MK and surrounding areas. I asked our host for a window table and got that on the MK side. Food, from start to finish, was great. Also, neat to see and hear the kitchen, which is open to the seating. First time at either and first time on the dining plan. I would definitely pick CG.
