Well, this year I told my son (16) he can bring a friend - so it is me (his mom), my sister and the two boys - 4 of us. We are staying at the Beach Club standard room. Has anyone done this? and will this work out okay? My sister and I and the boys we will have to do shifts for bathroom/shower time. We go first cause they sleep in and they can have room. Will it work out okay? Sure wish there were AP rates on the BCV rooms I would get a one-bedroom. Thanks for any replies!:wave2:

I don't see why it would be a problem. Set your ground rules ahead of time and things should go smoothly.:thumbsup2

I would feel very cramped but everyone vacations differently!

I couldn't do that, it'd be so cramped in a standard room but like the poster above said everyone vacations differently.

Edit - Sorry I miss read your first post, I thought there would be 5 of you (3 adults, 2 teenage boys). If it's just the 4 of you, I think you'll be fine.

My one concern would be with the sleeping arrangements and the use of the day bed. It really isn't that big or comfortable, especially for a 16yo young adult. Maybe consider bringing an air mattress type thing as well?

I'd ask for a room with a balcony, that way theres someplace to "go" at night if half the group is sleeping. Most importantly though, I'd try and let everyone have some space during the day. Thats TIGHT quarters for 5 people, 5 adults, to spend there vacation in. Tensions can run high (heat, crowds, money) and it's nice for everyone to take a break from eachother.

Yes, people do it, and like others have said: everyone vacations differently!Thats probably one of the best resorts for this though to be honest. The main pool is entertaining, and the location to the Boardwalk is ideal if you just need to getaway for a little bit.

Your sister can sleep on the daybed and the boys share a bed....everyone will have room to sleep. If you plan on spending a lot of time in the room it probably won't be too great, but if you are planning to sleep and shower in the room, then it should be fine. My guess is you will not see much of the boys...they will be out and about on their own and they will come back to sleep and you all will be up and out before they even move in the AM's.

The BC has some nice public spaces and you can always go find a nice quiet place to sit if the room seems too crowded.

A 1 BR villa at the BCV wouldn't work for you anyways because they have a max occupancy of 4 and only 1 bed and a sofa bed. You would ned a 2BR and that can be costly. You might check into renting points from a DVC member. If you think it would be too cramped you can always opt for 2 rooms at a Value or a moderate...not as posh, but the 2 bathrooms would be nice.

Also make sure you request a room with a day bed....we learned the hard way that not all of the standard rooms at the BC have a daybed!

Are you all staying in one room? I would think it will be kind of tight for 5 people. I would personally get 2 value resort rooms.

If I am understanding correctly, there are four in your group- two adult women and 2 teenage boys. We have stayed 5 at the BC with three adults and two children without any problems. May it feel a little cramped at times? - probably but I am sure the two boys are not goig to be hanging out with the grown-ups too much. At Easter this year, we stayed in a BWV studio - myslef, DH, DS and DS's friend. Both boys were 15 years old. I can honestly say I did not feel cramped. During down time, they were either on the balcony or hanging out on the Boardwalk. With boys, bathroom time is not a big issue as they are low maintenance. It also helps that there is a sink and mirror outside the toilet/shower. Go an have a great time. You will be fine!

Hi Disneyhappy!
thanks for replying! and your reply made me feel better. Ya know we stayed in a BCV studio last year (myself, my sister and son) and it actually is alot smaller than the regular room at the BC. This year with one more I would prefer the BC standard room over the studio since it is larger. Of course, there are no ap discounts for the BCV anyway right now.
THANK YOU AND HAVE A NICE DAY! :-)

Sorry I have misunderstood your post. I thought there were 5 of you before your last edited vision. In this case, you would not have any problem fitting everyone in the standard room.

We did a week at Pop Century with hubby, me, DD18 at the time, and her 18yo friend in one room. It was a little cramped, but we made it work, and I would do it again if I had to. Just make sure that you get along well with the friend before you attempt it.

We always go with 4 of us, my two kids now age 20 and 17, and my DH and myself. We are fine, we always work out the bathroom/shower situation. The daybed was fine for my son, he was 18 last time we went with a daybed. He is about 5'11. Last year we didn't have a daybed and my DH and him shared a bed. My DD and I shared the other. The good thing about deluxes is that the beds are queen. I am not sure if all deluxes have queens. We have shared the double beds at the moderates too, wasn't as comfortable but ok. You are so tired at the end of the day, I don't think it matters. Like other people have said, just set up the rules or expectations ahead of time and you will be fine.:)

You'll be fine - I stayed with teenagers in an OKW studio for March Break last year on my own - practically had the room to myself all the time except for the morning hours when they all slept in and I headed to the parks (love my AP!). I would go back to the room in the afternoon to relax and sit on my balcony, and would only see the teenie-boppers if they came to change or get their swimsuits. Only problem I had was them coming back from EMH at 2 am while I was trying to sleep - but I was on vacation, and I could sleep in if I wanted to, so didn't mind the disruption and they went right to sleep anyhow. Enjoy the time with your sis - you'll not likely see much of the boys!

DH & DS 16 (poor kid!) in one bed and DD 21 and I in the other. We thought it was plenty of room. I did appreciate having a balcony to read & drink coffee on in the Am waiting for the SLUGS!!! to get up!

You'll be fine. Have a great trip.:thumbsup2

I think you'll be fine. My brother has slept on the daybed at AKL and it was fine. He's about 6"2'. I would much prefer one room at Beach Club to two rooms at a Value!

We just did a trip with our 2 sons, 21 and 17, plus DH and I in one room and did fine. We spent 4 nights at POFQ. The bed did get cramped for the kids since older DS loves to spread out and take over the bed! At Yacht Club however, the queen beds worked out fine. Have fun!

Absolutely. There should be no problem. You and your sister share one queen, the boys can fight over who gets the bed and who gets the sofabed. My teenage sons would fight over who got the sofabed. :confused3 I'd make them take turns. One of my teen sons would actually sleep in the bathtub, too. Teenage boys can be -- well, weird, I suppose. :)

Have you thought about staying in 2 connecting (with the door between)rooms at a 'moderate' resort??

You would have 4 beds - 2 tv's & 2 bathrooms. Price wise - it could be about the same!!??

Well, if that isn't an understatement, I don't know what is:lmao: This is coming from the mother of a 17 year old, lol.
