2 studios vs 2 bedroom villa

does anyone (besides me) do this - get 2 studios instead of a 2-bedroom villa to save points....

To me it makes since - and we always have more adults than children - the adult over 18 in each room is not a problem.

Hi Pat,

That is something we have considered, but I really love the convenience of the in-room washer/dryer, and also love the jacuzzi! It's nice to have the option, though.

I've done it not so much to save points as to give a little privacy. It did let us have a mini-family get together for over a week at Christmastime (big points). But, it also seemed to work out better than the previous trip when we did stay together in a 2-bedroom. I agree that you do miss all the "extras" but it does have it's advantages.

Interesting idea - we just made our first booking into a 1BR and a 2BR - with having a 4yr old and 8 month old in one suite and an 11yr old and 7 yr old in the other it seemed like studios would not have worked so well for us

We've usually gone the 2 studio route with guests. In fact, our guests usualy prefer that. They say with a full kitchen they feel like they "have" to cook.

I was just wondering if the studio can be adjoining?

It might be a nice way to get two beds for our family instead of one with the one bedroom.... realize we'd give up the kitchen and laundry but who wants to do that on vacation anyway...... We'd also gain a bathroom. Has anyone done this?

Studios don't connect - ever. They only connect to a one-bedroom to make a non-dedicated two bedroom.

some inn rooms at Vero connect. We have used these for family outings ~ and there are four beds.

We've had a 2 BR plus 2 studios partly for the points savings and partly for the privacy issue. We then used the 2 BR as home base and got everyone a key for access. It worked well and I think it was far better for our group than a GV would have been.

Two years ago we vacationed with friends and had two studios. We had four adults in one studio and three in the other. It worked out great because each had their own privacy. They were adjoining rooms. The benefit is we saved valuable points for future trips. Naturally, we all had a great time not too mention we saved everyone big bucks because we were DVC members. Enjoy!!

SpiceyCat, we will do this to save points as well. We are going at Thanksgiving in November for an "extra" trip and rented some points to do it. We booked 2 studios. It will be nice to have the privacy (although I wish I could stick the kids with my parents and have some alone time with dh!) and I have requested rooms in the same building or at least nearby each other. The only thing I think I will miss is the laundry right in the room.
