Obviously I would usually choose a 2 bdrm. But for our upcoming trip we purchased DVC (yay!). We could stay 6 nights SSR (our home resort and first choice) 2 bdrm. Or, we could spend 8 nights OKW 2 studios.

We would miss the washer/dryer for sure. I fell in love with SSR and the convenience of Disney Springs. I am open to trying other resorts though. What would you do?

I guess it really depends on whether or not you want the longer trip or shorter with laundry. I personally would always vote for longer trip and just pack enough stuff or use the onsite laundry if needed for one load to get you by.

If you want to add on park days then adding 2 more on top of your 5 or 6 won't be much more, so in essence you could have a more relaxed trip with more park time.

Sometimes you need to compromise to have a longer trip and only you know if it is worth what you are giving up. OKW does have the boats to DS so you will still have easy access.

This is a long term issue on how you want to vacation. We bought DVC to allow us to stay in suite style accommodations at an affordable price, so we would opt for the 2BR in your scenario. For sure, if staying as many days as possible is the highest priority, then studios will always win. I really can't advise on what to do since my priority may be different than yours.

I will say that you have many decades of life left on your contract. So you will have ample time to "sample" other resorts.

FWIW, the reason I say stick with the 2BR:

1. No real guarantee your 2 studios will be anywhere near one another.

2. As a DVC owner, there is no "one and done." You have at least 25 years left on the contract, and plenty of time to enjoy the parks in the future.

We will be able to stay 7-8 nights (depending on season) in a 2 bedroom typically. Our contract was partially stripped though, so that affects this trip.

It would be a different trip but I think the first decision is how long to you want to stay. If 6 nights is good then do the 2BR but if you want 8 do the studios. We prefer the larger villas but on occasion have done studios because of point limitations.

What is the makeup of your group? If it is two families or all adults I'd say go for the two studios. However If it is just one large family (2 adults and several kids) I'd say 2 bedroom. Personally I'd stress worrying about the two studios being far apart or who wants to be in the room with mom vs dad.

Buy more points?

If I could go for the longer trip, I'd try to work out a way to do so. Borrowing is almost always option one, but if not, round up enough points to do both by a 2 day rental, one time use points or similar. Is that a standard view, of not can you work it out for at least one day extra for standard view?

If you have 2 studios, you will need at least one person age 18 or over in each unit. So if it's mom, dad and 2 kids, I would go with the 2 BR. Just remember, now that you are DVC members, you should have many more trip to come. And you will find that you will spend more and more time at the resorts as the years go by. Enjoy and welcome home!

For your first visit, I would be tempted to do the 2BR, you could save some money by eating some meals in the room especially breakfast and some lunches. Buying some groceries will be cheaper than eating out at WDW.

You will get one more sleeping area having the 2 bed since you'll have the living room. You also get a place to congregate as a group if you wanted to do a couple dinners in the unit or something. Having a kitchen for breakfast and a dinner or two comes in handy. Your 2 studios might not be near each other.
