Hello! I'm new to the forum & am currently planning an Oct trip to Disney. I've been going to WDW for years, but this will be my first time taking kids (egads!).

My best friend has a 2yr old & a 6yr and I'm wondering if we should bring two umbrella strollers or one double-umbrella stroller? Grandma will be going too (plus my boyfriend), so we'll have 2-4 adults to share the pushing. A double would seem better than the hassle of coordinating two separate ones, but do people ever bring their toddlers/grandmas back to the hotel while the 6yr old would keep going at the park??? In which case, the 2yr old would take the double & the 6yr old would be stuck walking all night?

We're also flying in & plan on getting the stroller(s) at home & gate-checking so we can use to push kids through the airports if that factors into opinions.

Thanks!

most umbrella strollers won't hold the weight of a 6 yr old. the wheels will buckle and you won't be able to push it.

Personally I think a 6 yr old is fine with out a stroller, we never brought one once they reached 5.

I'd bring the 1 umbrella for the 2 yr old.

Of course it's totally up to you, but we brought two umbrella strollers for our two kids.

For us it was more about separating from time to time. For example, one time my husband did the Indiana Jones Show with my son, while I did the Beauty and the Beast show with my daughter. It worked out great for us having two strollers.

Oh good point! I'm so used to seeing people pushing, but not doing the pushing myself, that I never thought of weight limits.

She's turning 6 this summer & right now is about 40in & 42 lbs. She WILL have a breakdown if we make her walk all day. Especially if she sees her little sister & other kids riding around LOL! If the umbrella stroller(s) won't work, my friend's willing to rent from one of those companies that delivers strollers to the hotels. We just thought the umbrellas would be cheaper & easier to cart around the buses/monorail.

My 6 and a half year olds were both in umbrella strollers. They were average in height and weight. Pushing was no problem. :goodvibes

2 single. So much easier to get around in crowds and shops. When my kids were stroller age we found some good cheap strollers that recline. Made naps much easier.

Thanks for the tips! I think we'll test-run the umbrella closer to the trip to make sure we can all push her around ok before committing to it :thumbsup2

I will have a 5 and a 3 year old, and am considering renting a city mini single stroller with the buggy board and will carry an ergo.

This way the oldest can ride standing on the buggy board while my youngest sits in the stroller, they can switch at times and I am planning on bringing the ergo in case both fall asleep on the way back to the hotel.

This might be another option for you :)

We have done both and DH and Iprefer 2 singles. It's easier to navigate stores and crowds. Most of the time we would leave the older child's stroller parked while we did several rides in the same area, then pick it up to ride to the next area. The little one could ride to each attraction or walk, too.
