For people with a lot of points have you broken it over 2 separate memberships.

Any +/-'s

We used to have 500 points. Two master contracts (one directly from Disney, one resale) and three add-ons from Disney connected to the Disney master contract. Three contracts were for the same resort. Two were two different resorts. Both master contracts have the same owners listed (husband and I). It would have been easier to have one master contract with multiple add-ons.

Once you have the points purchased, you cannot break them up yourself.

Totally agree. I HATE my Aug UY. So, I purchased a Dec UY to have options. Unless you have a good reason to buy a separate UY, I would stick with the same UY.

Is it terrible, though? Absolutely not. You just have to think a little more, and pay attention to banking deadlines. You also can't combine points at the 7 month mark like you can under the same member number. With one member id, it's one big pool of points at 7 months. Which resort(s) you purchased really doesn't matter. With separate contracts, the points stay separate unless you transfer. What I find myself doing is booking 3 or 4 nights with the Aug UY, and the other nights with the Dec UY. However, if you're making a reservation with one member number and find yourself 7 points short, you would have to transfer.

The rules state you can only transfer in or out once per UY. I have read recently that MS managers have relaxed those rules for owners of both contracts making reservations. However, I wouldn't purchase counting on the exception.

Good luck with your decision! :thumbsup2

Multiple memberships/UYs increase the possibility of mistakes by you and MS.

Due to the problems created by MS we will be selling our contracts from our least favored UY.

We also can't see our pending vacations or points activity on the member website due to a Disney IT error. The problem has existed for over 3 months and we have reported it to all levels of management including Jim Lewis. Lewis never responded and everyone else tells us that they don't know when it will get fixed.

Certain aspects of the DVC have been a major disappointment. :sad2:

We have 4 different UYs. I do not find it a problem to manage because we primarily use the points at their home resort (except for SSR which we primarily use for DL). Since I have to refer to the contract number from which I want to use the points, there have been no misunderstandings.

I am going to add on GCV points onto my BLT contract with the same UY. I am wondering how that is going to work if I make a reservation at 7months or less. Do I have to specify which points to use? What if there are banked points for one resort that are earmarked (by me) for a home resort reservation that might be too early to reserve--would MS automatically use them for the ressie within 7months or would they ask?

I have found that the more points/contracts that we have, the greater the possibility that MS will make a mistake. What MS is suppose to do and what they actually do are two different things.

They should ask, but in reality, they seldom do, so we tell them what points to use. Even then we have had problems with them using the wrong points.
