2 rooms + payments + placeholders

Okay here's my dilemma (I have 2 actually).
MIL and I are in Room 1 || FIL, DH, DS are in Room 2
We did this for Platinum status.

Obviously FIL and I will swap. I know we can get blank keys, so I'm fine with that BUT, questions:
  1. I want to put a gift card on a room. I know I can put it on Room 2 to pay for tips/photo package (if I don't swap to me), etc. but do I need to put money on Room 1 if I want to pre-pay for anything related to me OR if I make DH the 'payer' of me, everything should just go on Room 2?
    • I guess another way to ask is, if you are the "payer" of a person, does all their stuff go to you regardless of what room you are in? So, alternatively, if I'm the payer for DH and DS, their tips would be assigned to me in Room 1, even though they are in Room 2?
  2. Also, how do I make sure one of the Placeholders belongs to me and DH and they don't end up in my in-laws names?

Thanks,
Tara

The “payer” determines how payments are made, and is unrelated to the room the payer is in. If you use your credit card as the form of payment for your husband and son, any charges they make to their room will be charged to your credit card at the end of the cruise (or when their room costs reach the charging threshold). If you prepay some money onto a room, the charges to the room will use that money first before charging the credit card on file. So yes, if you are the “payer” for a person, their charges will go to you for payment, but will still be recorded as charges to their room on statements.

When you book a placeholder, you will need to indicate the lead guest on the new reservation. If you live at a different address than your in-laws, you should both be able to book placeholders. If you’re at the same address, I am not sure what happens if they purchase a placeholder before you do.

That's a great explanation, thank you!

Thank you, yes, we do live in 2 residences, so, I'll just double check when I book it.
