So i'm still trying to find the best value for us.
we are 4 adults, a 10 yr old and a 8 yr old.

we have two rooms with free qs but have adrs for crystal palace breakfast, 1900 park fare breakfast and a chef mickey lunch, right now we will be paying OOP for all 3 totalling $473.00 with tax and tip

if we upgrade one room to ddp it will cost $240ish before tax and tip
but then we could add one more character or table service meal.

we would lose 3 refillable mugs and 8 snack credits.
We would upgrade the 2 adult and 10 yr old since she is considered an adult by disney.

would our 8 year old then get adult meals for the table service? since we would be using all adult credits.
how hard will 4 meals be for the 10 who will need to then do 4 qs kids meals?

can we share mugs with the other room?

Lets see if I am getting this right? You are two groups, you want to up grade one group to DDP, while the other group stays on QSp. Then you want to use the DDP to pay for the 3 table service meals for the entire group, 4 adult and 2 kids.

IF that is what you are saying, the problem I see is I THOUGHT the rule was you can not pay using DDP for meals eaten by people NOT on the same DDP. At least I think that is the way I have understood the plan. :confused3

Have you simply considered each room upgrading? It still may turn out to save $$$ and you could enjoy a few more sit down meals.

Hope someone comes along with a better answer. Good Luck.

Oh I didnt realize!
We're trying to find a balance of meals, we considered upgrading both, but didn't want to be that inflexible with our schedule.

If you only want to upgrade 1 room, include the 8yo on the room being upgraded. It's VERY cheap to upgrade a child from QSDP to basic DDP.

At the TS restaurants you'll have to pay OOP for the people on the QSDP. Your card will be marked with the number of people on the dining plan in your room. You may come across a server who allows you to pay for everybody using the credits from the one room but it's not supposed to be allowed so banking on that happening is quite a gamble financially. Plenty of servers do follow the rules.

Since the meals you're indicating are less expensive meals than many others (2 breakfasts and a lunch), financially it's probably a better overall deal financially to pay OOP for the 3 meals that you want rather than booking several other TS meals that you're not interested in.

That's correct - the persons in the upgraded room would not be able to use their dining credits to buy TS meals for persons in the room that was not upgraded. They would be limited to ordering only the number of meals as they have persons on their key card.

I only brought it up as I did not want you to count on it and be disappointed, but also since I have never had occasion to try it was not 100% sure of the rule, that is why I caped the work thought. After rereading the post I was thinking I might have come off strong and not really meaning to.
