My family of 6 (me, DH, DS x 3, and DD) will be going to WDW at the end of July for the 4/3 special. We are booking 2 separate rooms for the trip at the same resort. We were thinking about booking 1 room full of people on the DxDDP and 1 room of people on the QSDP. Will this work? The number of total TS and QS meals will work out great if this is okay.

When we pay at our meals, will this work? We will have 2 different room keys and a different plan of each.

You can do that-but it won't work the way you want it to. You can only get the amount of meals that are on the card.

You can only use the amount of credits that you have on your room key. So say you have yourself, and your daughter on one room then you would only be able to use two TS credits off that card (but that room only has the QSDP, so now you have to pay for the meal). The other room key would have your husband and sons on it and you can only use the four TS off that room card (that would be the one you would probably want to have the DxDDP).

If both rooms are booked (and paid for) on the same reservation/under the same name then you will be required to book exactly the same plan for all members of your party.

If you do manage to split the reservation and book your rooms/packages seperately those who are on the DxDDP will not be allowed to purchase meals for those on the QSDP, and vice versa. The stipulations of the plans are that all members of a party who are in the same room/reservation and therefore on the same plan may share meals, but that their DDP credits may not be used to purchase meals for anyone not on that reservation/plan. The key cards for the DxDDP room will read '2 AD' or '3 AD' or '2AD 1C' or whatever is true for the way you plan to split your party, and that is the maximum number of meals that can be purchased at once with those cards. It will not matter when you are dining together at a CS restaurant, of course, but at a TS the folks staying in the QSDP room will be billed as oop since your 'limit' in that case will be 2-3 diners who can pay with DDP credits.

Conversely, when dining at a CS restaurant, you would be required to use DxDDP credits to purchase the meals for the folks from that room while the folks from the QSDP room would be able to order their meals with their QSDP credits - the QSDP folks would not be allowed to 'cover' the DxDDP folks with their CS credits. Their cards would designate '3AD' or '4AD' or '2AD 2C' or whatever matched the way you split the rooms and that would be their maximum 'credit limit.'

Disney has thoroughly covered all of the main loopholes ;)
