2 reservation numbers

Looking at a friend's reservations (who rented points directy from a member), i noticed that they had 2 confirmation numbers because there are 2 stays.

They are back to back (composing a full week), at the same resort, same room type and view.

Should they do anything to reduce the possibility they will have to move rooms, or is it not a worry?

Assuming both reservations were made by the same owner:
At a minimum, they should have the owner call DVC and have them flagged as a 'Continuing Stay'.
Preferably, the owner could have DVC consolidate them into a single reservation.

If they have two separate reservations due to renting from multiple owners, 'Continuing Stay' is the only option and both owners must call DVC.

It is one owner, but he said he 'had' to do it that way. Maybe he was using 2 different contracts? It was in the home resort advantage window, so all points were from the same resort. I thought it might have been a UY/borrowing thing/thin since the ressie does start in Sept and end in Oct, but the 'second' reservation still starts in september, so that is not the reason. (If the second ressie started 10/1, I would have said bingo to that being the reason)

I told them to contact the renter and have them call and note that it is a continuing stay.

It could be the owner has two contracts that are deeded differently. If that is the case they are two separate memberships and linking the reservation is the best option.
