Hi All!

2 of the randomest questions ever I'm sure!

For folks who have stayed at the Doubletree Suites recently - is the sofa bed made up with linens when you pull it out or do I need to call ahead and ask them to make it up for us? We'll be checking in close to 1am!

Secondly, last time I was in the US everywhere was starting to charge for plastic bags. Is this happening at DLR? Just wondering :)

Oh! Bonus 3rd question - how far is it to walk to the Toy Story parking lot from the Doubletree? I hear it's absolutely the way to get to the parks! :)

Thanks in advance x

DLR is not charging for the plastic bags. I can't answer the other questions!

A lot of other places in Ca are charging for plastic bags.

I think the walk from the Toy Story Lot to the Doubletree is about a half a mile.

We stayed at DoubleTree last Oct. I recall having to make the sofa bed up but I could be wrong. I would just call to be sure. We never used the Toy Story lot, we would walk or use ART. We loved our stay there, no complaints at all.

There hasn't been a law passed in OC yet, but it's that plastic bags can't be used for groceries and they have to charge for paper. It doesn't apply to non-grocery purchases. However, DLR does sell reusable bags.

Many thanks all - much appreciated. I'm thinking I need to call ahead to let the Doubletree know how late we'll be checking in anyway, so I'll ask about the sofa bed then :)

Somewhat :offtopic:: Does anyone know of any cities in CA that have already started doing this? I was under the impression that the state law doesn't start until 2016 and that enough people signed some petition that it would have to be approved in the next election to actually go through. I know in my city, we do not currently have to pay for plastic and most stores are still using plastic bags exclusively for groceries unless you specifically ask for paper. I actually have no problem with them charging for plastic and would rather bring my own bags and do my part to save the environment, but it's caused quite a bit of upheaval.

The plastic bag ban has been in effect in LA County and The city of LA for several years now. Even my local Target stopped giving out bags altogether. It's always a little jarring to me when I stop in OC to buy something and get handed my 2-3 small items, which I would normally just carry in my hand, in a plastic bag before I'm even done paying for the purchase.

Some places in the Silicon Valley are doing the bring your own bag (no plastic) bag thing for a couple of years now. Santa Clara County, San Jose & Milpitas are 2 to name a few.

In Sonoma County, no plastic bags in grocery stores at all and you pay for paper. Target & Macy's are charging for bags. When they first started charging for bags at my grocery store there were some rather outraged customers. It was pretty funny watching people unload entire carts of groceries, san bags, into their cars just so they wouldn't have to pay the 10 cents. Things have calmed done since then and people have miraculously learned how to bring their own or do without.

And the best thing... I'm sure this doesn't just happen in Sonoma county - you get a credit when you bring your own bags. I got $.35 off at Target yesterday. :) I'm a bagaholic so I'll use any excuse to buy bags of any kind. I have a huge collection of super cute shopping bags that fold or roll up really small.

We have been required to bring our own bag for a couple of years now...and I still forget every time...and I refuse to buy them! I know it has nothing to do with the retailer, but paying for the bag just seems wrong to me. Someday I will adjust and will remember to bring my own in.

I refuse to pay for a bag from the store if I don't have one with me. Why would I pay to carry around something with the store's branding on it? They should pay me to carry their bags around. :)
