I have 2 burning questions:

1. Now that I am a member, how do I know when DVC offers add-on incentives? Is it on the member website or will I automatically get notification via e-mail or...?

2. I have read that DVC has different "busy seasons" ---> What are they?

1: You will get incentive offers via the U.S. mail and also via e-mail.

2: There is no such thing as a DVC "busy" season. The point values are allocated during the differant seasons to adjust for demand.

However, you will hear several people on these boards tell you that the first 2 weeks of December are the busiest because of the low point values. Using that same logic, the least busiest times would be when the point values are the highest, like during Christmas and Easter. That is clearly not the case.
 
Generally, by "busy season" I think most members are referring to when they have the most difficulty booking a reservation. And that will vary some with resort size and location. BCV and BWV are gennerally kind of difficult to book all during EPCOT Food & Wine fest, and all resorts are hard to book from ThanKsgiving weeK through New Years day. Spring Break is another busy booking time.
