Hi all,

1. I have a disney visa credit card..how do the points work if I want to use them to go to disney? How do I find out how many I have? How do you redeem them?

2. My husband is going to disney on business in october (end of). His company will pay for our room while the conference is going on. However for the last couple days we will have to pay (conference will be over) so I was thinking of going to a cheaper resort (prob Pop) for those last couple days. His conference is at the swan and dolphin so we'd have to stay there or nearby (boardwalk or beachclub I guess).

is a split stay a total pain? Is it worth it? We're on a major budget here!

Thanks in advance...

Welcome Lauren!!

Usually, you call them up to redeem your points and they send you a "prepaid" card in the mail....I would assume you could use that the same way as a credit card, I've only used it at the parks or the Disney Store...you might just consider cashing in and using it as your expenses card for goodies and food...if there are ways to use the points for hotel stays, there is a place on the Disney Visa site that walks you through how to redeem points...

Not much help I guess...I hope someone else here has used it other than putting it onto a rewards card..

Your monthly statement has a list of your points... You can also call Disney Visa to find out... You call them to get your rewards card (looks like a credit card that contains all of your points/dollars)... You can call or use their website to add more dollars to the card they will send you... It takes about two weeks to get in the mail... Every time you use the new card in Disney you will get a receipt that states your new total after the purchase... We always use our rewards card around the parks and resort for food and any other items we need... The money goes quick! Just call Disney Visa... They will take care of it for you!!!

Changing resorts is not that hard... They will move your bags for you... You will have to check-out of the first resort as you normally would and you might have to wait unitl regular check-in time to get into your new room... I suggest you call to have your bags moved in the morning, go to a park, then go back to your new room in the evening... Your bags will be there... We did a split stay on our honeymoon and it was very easy.

This does not answer any of your questions, but have you phoned swan and dolphin to see what rates you can get for your tacked on extra days? Often times you will be able to get the "conference" rate a few days before and/or a few days after the actual conference dates. It still may be more than you are wanting to pay, but worth a look.

As someone said, those points are converted to cash value (1 point equals 1 dollar) which will be put on a card which can only be spent at Disney parks/resorts

You can go online at the Chase/Disney website to view your points balance, etc. (and make points transfers to the rewards card you will use for spending at Disney).

Most of the time, they send you a booklet with cards like that explaining how they work, if you didnt get one of those, why not just call the number on the back of the card? They should be able to tell you how it works, or at least another number to get the exact info you need direct from disney.

Disney rewards card - I did everything online, including a 5 min. transfer of recent points accumulated to the new rewards card they mailed us about a month ago (requested it online, as the original card [not the points themselves] from 2 years ago had expired. They mailed it pre-loaded with points, which you can confirm online and then all transfers thereafter go to the same card, which you can do online or by phone. Very easy now compared to several years ago when the transfer process was much more cumbersome and likely not to go through the first time....
