2 Questions Upgrading Tickets and WOC

First off, we are talking about possibly upgrading our park hopper tickets when we go for the mid level AP's. We are planning another trip thanksgiving weekend, another in february for our anniversary and probably at least one more sometime next spring/summer. So it just seems worth it. So are we able to apply the purchase price of our park hoppers to upgrade to AP's? And how does that work? Do we have to do it before we even use the park hoppers or can we just do it before we leave for the last time?
Also in all our trips we have never seen WOC because it has always seemed to complicated and crazy. But now I really want to see it. Do they still do the Fast Pass system? We will be there on Wed, Thurs, and Sat if anyone could give me pointers of how/when/what to do I would appreciate it!

I am not 100% sure on the AP question, but my understanding is you can pay out the difference and upgrade. for world of color you can do stand by and hope for a good spot. We did the dining package at Ariels Grotto. Food was pretty good, plus we got up to the "wet zone" or up on the railing for our viewing. Well worth it. That was 50 or 60 dollars each two adults. Kids or priced differently I believe. They also have the WOC dessert party with sit down viewing, but for a higher price. I recommend the dinner package due to you get an app. Dinner. And dessert.

Just upgraded my PH to an annual pass on Wed and DH on Sun. I purchased my PH at a $17 discount and was given the full $335 value towards my AP. I upgraded before we entered the park because I was getting a Signature AP so blockout days weren't an issue and we aren't early risers for MM. We were on the fence for upgrading DH, finally decided to go for it and upgraded him to Deluxe AP after we left the park on the last day of his 3 day PH, also given full value of $295 vs the $285 I paid for his PH.

We don't care for WoC so can't help there other than to say yes they still do FP for it and I know on Sat people were still getting FPs around 1:30

Have you checked the blockout calendar for your future trips? The weekend of Thanksgiving is blocked Thur-Sat for deluxe.

Yes, you can upgrade your park hoppers, either before you use them or before you leave. If they have a magic morning attached to them then I would use that if you had planned on using it, then upgrade. They will apply the amount you paid for your PH's and you just pay the difference. If you are a CA resident then you can even set up payments for the difference. Also, if you want to upgrade on a block-out day, then you can do that and they will give you a special pass to use to get into the parks that day.

Speaking of block-out days, I'm not sure which "mid level AP" you are going for, but if it's the Deluxe, then you will be blocked out on the Thu, Fri, Sat of Thanksgiving weekend

You are correct, it's only blocked during Christmas

Do a search for the WOC Superthread started by Hydroguy. The first post should give you all the basic info that you need. The last few pages should give you more recent info on people's experiences. Don't worry -- seeing WOC isn't all that complicated. Just reading the superthread will help you a lot.
