1) We are hoping to go to Disney Nov 24 OR 25 to Dec 3rd, is one day any better than the other for travelling? I know the day before thanksgiving is very busy, but have no idea of the difference between Thanksgiving VS day after.

2) We will be there for 2 or 3 nights of regular season, and 6 nights of value season. Do I need to make two separate reservations in order to get the rate change? I really don't want to move rooms/hotels at all if I don't need to.

I was told once by CRO that the busy time is from the Saturday before Thanksgiving until the Sunday after. I know once while we were there, the MK was closed early. We try to fly on Thanksgiving, since the flights are cheaper and we won't go to a park anyway.

We did go to AK the day after, and it was a mess. People here think EPCOT is the best park to be in if large crowds are expected, since it is so big with more attractions.

I do believe you need to make 2 reservations if you start in regular and transition to value season. Not so, the other way, you get the value rate for your entire trip. I think they fix it so you don't have to move, though.

Do you mean which day is better and less busy for traveling or touring the parks? If you are wondering when is the best of these days to travel I would travel the day after Thanksgiving.
The parks will be VERY busy until monday after Thanksgiving.

Yes you will have to make two ressies. If it STARTED in the value season then you would not have to but since I'm sure you want to get the cheaper rate , that is what you will have to do.
After Thanksgiving is a great time to go.
We will be there the first week of Dec . :goodvibes

That is when we went 3 years ago. Traveling was very busy. Driving from NYto FL going through the carolina's was very busy other than that traffic was not too bad. Great time to go though. The parks are decorated for the holidays and absolutely beautiful. Make sure you visit EPCOT and see the holidays around the world. We did MVMCP and it was great too. :earsboy: :earboy2: :earsgirl:

We drove from NC on the Friday after TD. No traffic. We didn't have to contend with any rush hour traffic because everyone was off that Friday.

Thanks for all the replies. I was asking about travelling to Disney, not the "in park" travelling. I fully expect it to be ridiculous till monday, but with all those extra free days off I can't help but go early! I figure worst case scenario we can spend our first couple days relaxing at the resort, checking out Downtown Disney and such.

We went Thansgiving of 2001. We arrived the last night of value season and paid that rate for the full trip. My understanding is that whatever rate at check in is the rate you pay for your full trip. Unless you switch resorts, then it becomes 2 seperate reservations.
We left WDW the day after Thansgiving . That whiole week it was extemely crowded. My friend went 2 days later and said it wasn't crowded and didn't wait on any line.

The weather was beutiful. Some places had the christmas decorations up.

We travelled this past Thanksgiving Day from Wichita, KS to WDW. The price for flying on Thanksgiving Day itself was lower than prior or following a few days. I would say that the airport traffic was moderate, definitely not overcrowded. Both of our flights were approximately 80-90% full, but comfortable, nonetheless. With the exception of how busy WDW was that weekend, I wouldn't hesitate to travel again on Thanksgiving Day. :goodvibes
