Hi Everyone

Just want to start by saying I'm really enjoying this forum, my husband has been complaining he has lost me for the last few nights as I'm too busy reading everyones trip reports and questions to speak to him lol! Seriously I had lots of questions but many have been answered already on here so at the moment I can only think of 2.
We are going in a few weeks and staying in the Hotel New York (myself, husband and daughter) We are going for DD's 2nd birthday. She loves watching playhouse disney and I am kicking myself as we return before it starts there - nevermind!
Does any of you experts know if you can buy bottles of milk in the HNY or nearby as she has to have her bottle to get to sleep? I don't mean formula milk I mean the fresh blue top milk we get here. If not I will have to take some with me.
Also is there any rides that you recommend for a 2 year old? I have read reviews on the disney website and some of them say they are ok but when I read actual peoples reviews some sound way too much for a little un, for example star wars someone said they got thrown around lots and I really don't want her coming home bruised. (Sorry I'm a bit of a worry mum!) If your there the same time as us you will spot us as she will be the one running around wrapped in cotton wool lol! Seriously though do they have age restriction boards outside each ride stating the suitability before you queue?
Opps I think I've gone over my 2 questions so better leave as that for now but if anyone can answer the above or has travelled with a 2year old and tell me the rides they liked I would really be grateful. We have booked cafe Mickey for lunch already but any other tips great.

Thanks
Vicky

hi and welcome to the boards. you will find everyone on here really helpful

sorry i dont know about the milk but i can help with rides. my dd was two in december and we went in october last year and feb this year. all the rides in fantasyland are suitable for two year olds. my dd is obsessed with its a small world. in discoveryland there is buzz and orbitron. in frontierland there is phantom manor (but beware this could scare your dd, nothing scares mine lol) and there is a boat trip around frontierland also. in adventureland there is pirates of the carrabian (sorry cant spell but a great rides, two small drops on this though). then in the studios there is the cars ride and the flying carpets

two year olds wouldnt be able to do the bigger rides as there are height restrictions but dont worry between all of those and the parade and shows you will have plenty to do

if you need any more info just ask

About the milk, my daughter was 2 in December & we stayed onsite in January. Usually we stay offsite & you can get fresh milk in the supermarket in Bailly Romainvilliers, but this time I brought some with me & kept it fresh in the room in the ice bucket. But when we ran out she was OK drinking the milk we got from the breakfast - she didn't seem to notice any difference! I was pleased not to have to get a bus to Bailly Romainvilliers! I checked the shop at the train station and they didn't sell fresh milk, but didn't go to the garage at Santa Fe, but maybe someone will come along who might know if they sell it there.

I would agree with mummy2ash's comments about rides, although wouldn't recommend Snow White or Pinocchio in Fantasyland as they are very dark & a bit scary. My daughter also loves the Anamagique show in the Studios & meeting characters for a cuddle. She loved getting their autographs (she saw her older sister doing this) & had to have her own autograph book this trip (unlike her sister who didn't bother with autographs until she was about 5).

Hi.

The milk that you can buy isn't the same as our milk. When we went, my 15month old daughter was still having milk at night, and she wouldn't drink it. I'd tried it first, and I thought it tasted inbetween a UHT longlife milk and evapourated milk from a tin. We took the ready made baby milk just to be safe, and it was a good job we did. She hadn't had baby milk for quite some months, so gave her a bit a few days before we went, and she was fine with it. And with them being able to be stored in a cupboard, they were a good back-up for us.

A friend was going to take flavoured milk powder (like milkshake) for her son when they went incase he didn't like the milk. It's another idea.

Hope this helps.

If there is anything else, just ask:)

My son is 4 but LOVES drinking a glass of milk with meals. We ordered this on 2 occasions for him and he finished it without mentioing that it tasted any different. However, I am not sure if this is connected, but he suffered from quite uncomfortable constipation on the final day of our trip and during the flight home (possibly too much information I know  ) so be aware the change in milk can affect their sensitive stomachs.

Hi Vicky . Elaine, Jackie, Elaine and Reid welcome to DLP DIS board :wave2:

We are a friendly bunch here so please join in on any other thread or if you have a number of questions then just start a new thread for each :goodvibes

If you have not had a look yet, DLP posting rules are here, DIS posting guidelines can be found here.

We stayed at the Cheyenne two years ago when our DS was just over 1 year old. We got our fresh milk from the hotel shop. I am guessing that the other hotels would provide the same service. Also, from what we can remember, it was full fat just like here at home.

Hope this helps.

There are 2 shops which sell everyday food/drink so I assume they would sell milk too. One's at the garage by the Santa Fe and one's at the Train station (at the far left as you walk in the main doors) just by the entrance to the parks. These are both 'normal' priced shops rather than Disney priced!

Do either of these shops sell booze?? I know I sound like an alcho but with a little fella who is not yet three we think we will end up in the room after he crashes and may fancy a little drink!!

Yes they both sell booze :)
The hotel shops also sell beer and wine but we noticed the beer was about E3.80 for one can

There are a few options....

Val d'Europe shopping village has an Auchan supermarket, only a few minute's drive from any of the DLP hotels on the opposite side of the Disney area. Fresh milk, booze, you name it..!

Petrol Station just outside the Sante Fe hotel has a mini-market shop attached.

Hotel shops do sell fresh milk and alcohol, but you will definitely pay a premium!!

The best tip I can offer with regards to milk is if you are staying at HNY, then the milk that you help yourself to at breakfast is regular, chilled semi-skimmed milk, so take a small bottle and fill that up.
Then fill your ice bucket from the ice machine and keep it cool in there
(we didn't dare touch the mini-bar fridge for fear of being charged!)

We did this so we could have "normal" milk in the tea we made in our rooms.

The milk available in most of the shops tends to be long-life stuff that is more popular in France than it is here.
