2 Questions about child ticket and passes

Can I buy a child ticket for my nephew who is 9? My question is that he is taller than my own son who is 13 almost 14. He even looks older than my son. Or should I buy him an adult ticket so noone questions it.

Next question we won't arrive until about 5 pm the first day. With checking into our hotel and getting food should I buy a pass for that day. We will be there July 9-12th. I am trying to decide 3 day or 4 day passes. The price difference isn't to much but it will be like 140 dollars more for all the tickets I am buying. Wondering if we will even use the 4th day. But for how busy the summer is I think we need to spend us much time as we can so we don't miss out on the stuff we want to do. What are your thoughts?

Thanks so much. Trying to figure it out so I can buy passes soon as I know that they are going up in price and I want to buy them as cheap as possible.

Buy him a childs pass. I highly doubt you will be questioned (I never was with my VERY tall 2 year old without any ticket), but if it'll put your mind at ease maybe carry a photocopy of his birth certificate.

I would go with the 4 day. The parks are open until late so you will still have plenty of time to enjoy the parks after you arrive.

Go for the child ticket. If they want to charge based on height, then they need to change their policies.

We have APs and usually head into the parks for about 5 hours (7 pm - midnight) on the day we arrive. Unless you think you'll be super tired on arrival day, I think I would go for it.

I agree with everyone else, I'd go that first day!

The only time we didn't go on the first day was last summer when we drove...left at 2 AM and arrived at our hotel about 5. We got dinner at DTD and then crashed for the night because we were so exhausted. It didn't stop us from leaning to the right a little as we walked through the esplanade though...

Totally off topic, but funny...that first night we went to bed and my husband jumped out of bed and said " why is someone thumping their luggage up and down the stairs so loudly for so long?" It wasn't luggage on the stairs--it was the fireworks

Yes, I'd go for 4 day passes and yes, the 9 year old is entitled to the child discount andf you should take it with no qualms.

For sure, get the 4th day! You'll regret it if you don't! It's in the summer so the parks witll be open late!! Have fun!!!

I would buy the 4th day too. We are heading out late June, and it was originally 3 days, but we are now going for half the day before so 3.5 days. The price is less than $20 more per person. I think half a day is absolutely worth the extra 20.....especially since we've never been there before (WDW east coasters). Since our flight home out of LAX doesn't leave until 2 pm, we may even add a 5th day just to squeeze in another 2-3 hours Turns out, it's only $11 more for adults, and $10 more for my daughter. Hmmmm is another $32 worth 2-3 hours........

We were never questioned even when I brought my ginormous, turning 3 the day after we left the parks, kiddo. But if you are worried I'd just bring a copy of some id for him.

We almost always go to the parks for part of the day when we first get there. Its nice to just wander around and get reacquainted and go on a few rides. Bonus if there are fireworks that night, because that is usually the day my kiddos are still hyped enough to stay up that late.

I agree with this. If you wont even be ready to go until after 5pm it doesn't leave much time considering you'll still have to make time for dinner as well. My family will be going in a few weeks. We will arrive in CA around 12pm, by the time we get to our hotel and checked in I dont know what time it will be. We decided it wasn't worth it to go that day. We'd rather not rush after the long flight and with a kid, ugg no thanks. lol. For us that is a lot of money to spend on only a couple hours. So I'd do the play it by ear thing and see how you feel after you get checked in and everything.

If you buy your tickets in advance or through a work discount program, then adding a day is much more expensive. With the DLR, there is more pressure on folks to make the right call on tickets before they leave. IMO, DLR should implement the WDW ticket upgrade policy, since the long term DLR vacationers should be treated with as much respect as they are at WDW.
