2 Q's about use of points

Help out a newbie here with two hypotheticals so I can plan out the next couple of trips the right way.

1. Suppose right now I have a June UY. I have 20 pts banked from 2010 and 200 coming to me in June 2011. But I want to make a reservation at the 11 month mark coming up for a stay at my home resort in December of 2011. So when I call at the 11 month I don't technically have enough points to reserve my room - let's say 400 pts - but I will when June arrives and I can borrow another 200 from 2012. Can I make the reservation, or not until I actually have all the points I need?

2. If the answer to the above is no then what if I rent/transfer the points I need from another DVC member now - do ALL the points I need for my stay need to be points for my home resort to qualify for the 11 month out reservation? Or if I have 220 of my own points for my home resort and transfer 180 from another member of points for another resort can I still make my 400 point reservation at my home resort 11 months in advance?

Thanks in advance for your help. I know I could call and ask these questions but its more fun to talk about it here and get different perspectives and ideas.

Your points only need to be in your account on your stay dates, not when you make the reservation. Your points for future years are already "there" - they don't appear there on your use year start date.

So for a trip falling in your 2011 use year (Dec 2011), you can use 2010 points that were banked into 2011 prior to the close of your banking window, 2011 points (good from June 2011 - May 2012), and borrowed points from your 2012 year. You can still make your reservation at your 11 month mark, in January 2011, as long as you have done the banking/borrowing.

For future reference, if you want to rent/transfer points from another member and make a reservation 11 months out, then their home resort must be the same as yours. Using your example, if you own 220 points at BLT then you need to rent/transfer 180 points from another BLT owner to make your reservation at 11 months out. If you rent/transfer from a non BLT owner then you have to wait until the 7 month window and do an add on to your existing reservation, assuming space is available.

I have an April use year. If I look at my account online, it shows points for April 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013. So there's no wait for a "deposit", any points you could possibly use are already there. I could call today for December 2011 at my home resort and borrow 2012.
