As we are new to DVC, I was just wondering how common it is to book a 1 br for a party of 2 people. I am planning a larger family spring trip and while I know my inlaws would fit just fine in a studio it seems like a fun splurge for the 2 days we are at BCV to do the 1 BR for them instead. Just wanted to hear people's thoughts/experiences.....

If you have the points to spend, go for it. I very much prefer 1brs to studios, even for just one or two people. Much more comfortable.

DH and I always book a 1 bdrm, twice we've had a 2 bdrm....nothing else available.

While I haven't stayed in a studio as of yet I think booking a 1bdrm for 2 people is just fine. We just had our 1st stay this past September and had a 1bdrm for myself, hubby, and 2 kids. I would be PERFECTLY happy with staying in the 1bdrm with just the hubby. I really enjoy the washer and dryer in the room lol.

That's why we bought DVC (and plenty of points) - to be able to spread out and be comfortable. Not to squeeze as many people as possible into the smallest closet possible! :thumbsup2

I always book a one bedroom for the two of us. Don't feel at all guilty about it, either.

It's especially nice to have the extra space once you get past the "commando the parks" stage. Also love the washer/dryer (pack less), full size refrigerator for drinks, the jacuzzi tub and the two TVs and two remotes (don't ask, LOL).

When points are low but we have to squeeze in that one last trip, we don't mind staying in studios for the two of us, but when points are plentiful, we'll opt for the convenience of the one bedroom.

We always book a 1 bdr as long as we have the points. We will do a 2 bdr if we take the kids or friends.

I booked a one bedroom at Hilton Head for 2 of us a few years ago and was "upgraded" to a 2 bedroom. Now, that's a lot of room to spread out in. :cool1:

Enjoy the space.

Wow! We've booked a 1 BR there many times, but never gotten an upgrade. Too bad-DH says he'd love to see a 2 BR there.
To the OP, there've been threads on this issue and it seems that about half the 2-some DVCers book a 1 BR vs. a studio. We usually do (unless we're super short on points) because DH only gets X amount of vacation per year. So as long as we can't go for maximum quantity, we go for maximum quality on vacation, - said another way, DH can only take 1 week at a time, and 1 week in a 1 BR is much more of a vacation than a week in a studio. But come to think of it, even when we can go for 2 weeks at a time, we'll probably still stay in a 1 BR (assuming we have the points for it).

I think that would be very kind of you to get your inlaws a 1bd. They would probably really appreciate that living room space for relaxing.

Now though, if you will be extremely busy since you're only going for 2 days; will they be spending any time in the room, or will everyone be in the parks all day long? That might change things.

I frequently book a 1 bedroom for myself and a friend. I love the extra room and the ammenities, that's why I bought DVC.

My husband and I booked the 1 bedroom for just the two of us...it's nice, so much room and ends up feeling like a vacation home rather than a hotel room

We always book a 1 bedroom for 2 people. If we have 3 people, it's a 2 bedroom. We only do studios if we MUST to save a few points for a night on one end of our trips.

I look forward to the day when DH & I are retired & living in FL & then we will only do a studio since our plan is to go for 2 or 3 days on a frequent basis. Right now we only do 1 or 2BRs because we do 5 days minimum & usually more so I NEED that larger fridge & washer & dryer, not to mention the kids still insist on joining us. ;) But I think the in-laws would feel really special having all that extra space & if you have the points then go for it!
