2 people die at WDW last quarter

Those rides were obviously not the cause. There is no way that Small World is going to cause the death of someone who is just sitting in a boat if the ride is operating normally.

I think they are indulging in a bit of journalistic license. would you click on it if the headline was "2 persons die at WDW due to their preexisting medical conditions"

I don't know but DH thought it would make an interesting Dr Who episode. The dolls come to life and come after the boat riders when they get stuck.

Its A Small World is my favorite ride and Walt Disney World is the Happiest Place On Earth. If I had to die suddenly, this ride would be a fitting place for me to go.

That's awful news. But are they really implying that Its a Small World and Toy Story were the cause??? It's a Small World is the most calming slow relaxing ride out there.

I will agree to the most slow ride, but not sure about the most relaxing! :rotfl2:

No disrespect intended at all, but can you imagine how awful it would be to be on one of those rides and have a person in the boat in front of you pass away or even worse in the same boat...And then be trapped with them until help came and unable to help or do anything.

Typically unless they're Make-A-Wish families or other people doing a despite-illness or last-adventure type trip, most people are going to be going to Disney when they're healthy, so that would cut down on the comparisons to a typical city, which will often have the sick, elderly, crime victims, etc.

There's not a whole lot of car traffic (do they count accident fatalities in the death count? I know when a boy got hit by a bus, they did, but if two people get into a wreck after a night at Downtown Disney, do they count that? Have there even been (m)any driving fatalities on property?

With an area the size of San Francisco deaths are bound to happen.

Why would that be surprising? I'm surprised the numbers aren't higher. Look on the obituary page(s) of any small city newspapers. Disregarding deaths by crime, there are always those who pass away, unexpectedly or after a long illness, almost every day.

Yes, but people in extremely poor health that are near death are not the type of people who are at Disney World. The obituaries are filled with people who have been on their death bed and knew there time was close, or people who just died of old age who are a small population of Disney guests. The average age of people in a small town is probably 30 years higher than the average Disney guest.

On it's a small world... oh good lord that would be awful! Those dolls dancing, singing, repeatedly... and the person in front of you just died and there you are... floating along because you are trapped...

I'd be in therapy for months after! :faint:

I will disagree with you somewhat. There are families in the parks every day who are bringing a loved one for one last visit because their health is so precarious. Not just MAW kids (although their numbers are heartbreakingly high). But adults and the elderly, as well. Disney guests are not just healthy parents with their school age kids. Plenty of folks go to WDW with chronic, severe health issues. And I would hazard a guess, that just like in any city, there are plenty walking around at risk for a sudden heart attack, stroke or other catastrophic incident. With millions of guests visiting for days or weeks at a time, the odds are that a few are likely to die unexpectedly.

Old news !!:lmao:
These rides are not "dangerous". People die unexpectedly all the time, everywhere.

On average 2% of the population die every year... I'm actually surprised its only two with the number of people who visit every year.
