DH and I are in our mid 60's. In late Aug. 2009, we will be driving cross country from NJ to northwest..then down the Pacific Coast. We want to spend two days at DL. Since our total trip will be 2+ months, cost is a big factor. We have never been out west. What's a nice, clean place for two senior citizens to stay while visiting DL? We have been to DW many times, but we know nothing about DL. What's the best price we can pay for a 2-day pass?

If you are looking off site, I think Candy Cane Inn would be a great choice. It's close and has it's own shuttle. On site, any of the hotels are nice, just depends on your budget. I don't think there are usually discounts on 2 day hoppers, unfortunately. Check Disneyland's website for current prices. What a fun trip to plan!

Thanks for the response. Yes, we are looking off site.

I am not sure how much the rates are, because we stayed free, but the Fairfield by Marriott is a 7 minute walk to the gates of DL and is very clean. It is not a cheap motel like some of the places seem to be on Harbor. I am very picky and have a small son, so cleanliness means a lot to me. I was not disappointed here at all.

If you know anyone in the service they can get deals on any Disney tickets, even annual passes. We have a friend who is a firefighter on Camp Pendelton and we get big time hook ups through him. Other than that, I'm not sure you can get discounted.

We've stayed at the Howard Johnson (hojo) across the street and were very happy with our stay. It was about a ten minute walk for us with little ones in tow.
We were also able to get the entertainment book/card discount which put our stay at just under $60 a night. :woohoo: It's a very clean hotel with a nice pool area and great customer service.

Have a great time!

Why only two days? ...on a 60+ day trip? (You'll need 3.5 days minimum, imo)

Definitely visit DLR mid week (in August) & stay within walking distance on Harbor Blvd. (There are 6-8 motels that are "nice" & "clean" for seniors.....including the ones mentioned above).

Check out HydroGuy's & MaryJo's stickys (at the top of the DL board) for essential info for the DLR newbie (& WDW Vet).

Have a great time planning a visit to Walt's park. :thumbsup2

I purchased a 2 day hopper ticket-- one that lets you "HOP" from park to park at will-- for 132.00. I purchased the ticket from the front desk of Howard Johnsons. This hopper ticket is not avaialbe for purchase at the main gate. I would think that other resorts sell this ticket. Should you decide you need an extra day you can upgrade a day by paying the differenece betweent the 2 day ticket and a 3 day ticket. ( Remember to get a hand stamp as you exit the first park). Have lots of fun -- You did not say if you are traveling via RV or by car and staying in motels.

Happy planning
Patty

That's a good move, because that last stretch of I-5 through Central CA is booooooooooring. Can you tell I've done it a couple of times?

Make sure you come to the PNW prepared for any weather. Right now it is, of course, late August, and while one would think that summer means great weather, it's raining and around 58 degrees.
