Also in this months Passporter news.
122,000tons instead of 83,000 and 4,000 guests instead of 2,400. Cant wait to see them they will be massive.
I need to find more info. Anyone know if Port Canveral is capable of taking this size ship? or will they have to be based elsewhere?
I think 1 of the RCCL ships theat uses PC is a similar size.
ok going to DCL forum.

DISNEY TO BUILD TWO MORE SHIPS
2/22/07 - Bob Iger, President and CEO of the Walt Disney Company announced that Disney Cruise Line will be adding two new ships to its fleet.

The new ships will be built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany and will be launched in 2011 and 2012. Each ship will be 122,000 tons with 1250 staterooms. They will be two decks taller than the Disney Magic/Wonder.

This venture will more than double the Disney fleet capacity. As of now, the names, design and itineraries of the new ships have not been announced.

AND MAY WE ADD A GREAT BIG "YAY!!!!!!!!!!!"

Wow, that's interesting. We did the Disney Wonder a few years back. I wonder what the new ships will be called? :scratchin

Sounds fab, the cruise line is something we are thinking about for next years trip.
thanks for the links

I'm so excited about this - hoping for DCL Hawaii and Alaska cruises before too long! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Hi,
Being the cheapskate that I am I'm looking forward to some "cheap" cruises on the two older ships as most people will want to be on the new ones..!!

Mick.

I am hoping prices across the board come down slightly due to a lot more capacity but wont hold my breath. They are increasing passengers per week from 4,800 on 2 ships to 12,800 on 4 ships. That's a big jump.
Not sailed with them on past 5 visits now because I won't pay the price. 1 week in Oct cost me $2,200 for 3 of us. A 4 night in August is more money than we paid for the week in October. RCCL we did last Aug worked out at $1,100 compared to Disney at $2,500. Disney is Better but not by that much.
