2 Mod Rooms vs 1 Bedroom DVC

I will be traveling to Disney with my son and daughter-in-law. We don't mind sharing a room for a night, but I would like some privacy after a long day in the parks. Is it possible to get privacy in the 1 Bedroom DVC units or even a Wilderness Lodge Deluxe room or should I be safe and book two rooms at a moderate?

I like the idea of being able to stay in deluxe accomodations for my daughter-in-laws first trip, but I really want some private time at the end of the day. Any and all suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

In a one bedroom unit, first off, either you or your son and DIL will have to sleep on a pull out couch. There is only one bed in a one bedroom unit, the other is a pull out in the living room. To get some privacy, you'd have to lock yourself in the bedroom, or have them lock themselves in the bedroom. There are TV's in each room, but the bathroom is shared. I've never stayed in a deluxe room, but the same applies, you'd either have to lock yourself in the bedroom area, or have them go in there, and again shared bathroom. Personally, I'd get the two rooms at the mod. That way, you'll each have your own space, and own bathroom. It's easier IMO to get privacy in your own room, than sharing a larger room.

How about a 2 BDRM DVC villa? That is more money but a lot of space and includes, kitchen, laundry room and you each get your own bedrooms and bathrooms!

Other than that for privacy, 2 mods would be the way to go. We've stayed in a 1 BDRM with 5 people and although we did get to spread out, still had to share the bathroom (which has a shuttered window directly into the Master Bedroom, so it's not totally private!)

As stated above, the 1br DVC rooms only have one bed which is a king-sized bed in the master bedroom. There is a pull-out couch in the "living" room.

The advantage of the 1br DVC rooms is the space, full kitchen, washer/dyer, and whirlpool tub. You would get that at a moderate resort.

It really will come down to if someone is willing to sleep on a pull out.

If you would like a nice mixture of space, mini-kitchen and two beds, look into staying in a Studio at OKW. The studios have two queen beds in them and the room is much larger then a moderate room. You would still be sharing a room however.

Thanks to everyone for the information on the 1 bedroom DVC units. I couldn't tell from pictures how private the bathroom arrangement would be. I decided to book two rooms at POR and was able to get the AP rate too! As dearly as I love my son and daughter-in-law, I think we will have a more stressfree vacation if we have some time away from each other after being together all day.
