I am getting nervous. We arrive Saturday and were planning on going to the parks but the forecast says rain Saturday and Sunday and then again Wednesday. Our 2 sons(6,3) are so excited I can't imagine being stuck in our room due to the rain. I am not so worried about the boys they can cover up easier but we have a 11 month old and I am not sure how we are going to do the parks in rain with a baby. Yes we have 5 day tickets but I can't imagine just hanging in the room till Monday...Will it rain all day ??Please help me calm my nerves. i am stressing out! i did call this evening and added Goofy's Kitchen for dinner just in case we can't handle the rain and atleast the kids could see some characters.AHHHH

I havnt looked at the forecast, but in my rain experience at DL
it's not usually a downpour. Not saying it can't happen cause it has. But keep in mind there are many things you can do that are indoors other than eat, bugs life show, playhouse Disney, Aladdin and animation academy at DCA, the trains are covered, Capt EO,
innoventions, Lincoln, tiki room, are all great to get out of the weather :goodvibes Hth and have a great time

I was a Disneyland this past weekend with my 3 children and it was raining. We just put on our rain ponchos and off we went. The rain did keep most people away! Which was great for us...short lines.;)

I had rain ponchos from everyone plus one large umbrella. If we owned any... I would have brought rain shoes/boots.

I personally love to take rain ponchos for the parks because: they take up less space, do not weigh anything, they can be taken off & put on quickly, I can just roll them up & put them in my bag when we take them off.

You should not have any problems... as long as you are prepared. :thumbsup2 Bring as much rain gear as you can. Also have a "rain plan", look at the map and plan out as many indoor things as you can find. Do you own a rain cover for your stroller? I saw a number of people with them this weekend. If not, I did see people draping rain ponchos over the stollers.

We took DD when she was about 2 and mostly in her stroller and it POURED! We put an adult sized poncho over the whole stroller with her in it and it worked great.

It really is a good time to go because folks who are of 'less hearty stock' will stay in and you have the place to yourselves. Plan a good place for some warm food at lunch time and you'll be good to go.

I love Disneyland in the rain because most people stay home and you can pretty much walk on the rides. I say get a poncho or stroller cover and make an adventure out of it. You will get some great pics of you in the Disney ponchos :)

There is absolutely no reason to stuck in the room, oh, unless you melt. Like a poster said, make it an adventure and keep or feet and seat dry.

We went in the rain in december. It wasn't pouring but it did rain steadily all day which is unusual for SoCal. Usually when it rains down here it just rains for a little while and then stops but this was all day (i guess because of el nino this year). Like a PP, we also put an adult size poncho over the stroller and it stayed pretty dry. They also sell stroller rain covers if you can find one quickly that will fit your stroller. You will have fun, even in the rain.

But i just looked at accuweather.com and it looked like only rain (maybe) on saturday night. Of course, the forecast can always change but I wouldn't get too worried yet. Keep watching the forecasts. It said chance of rain a few weekends ago and we were debating if we should go or not. We ended up going since it sounded like it would only rain a little bit. It actually didn't rain at all, so you never know.

Have a great trip!

Get one of those stroller covers at Toys r us or babies r us. Ponchos fall off but the stroller covers work great

Now I don't have kids, but I hope this will help!

In 2009 we were in Disneyland parks for about 20 days. And the only day it rained was the best day in Disneyland, ever! It was cold, and wet, and the park was EMPTY! DH and I NEVER stay at the park all day and always take at least a 2-3 hr break. But since we pretty much had the park to ourselves we just put on ponchos and off we went, for 13 hrs!!

I would warn you to make sure you are wearing waterproof shoes (No cloth sneakers, suede-like boots, etc.) Many girls/women we're wearing those Ugg type boots and their feet were soaked! Most kids around us that we're still having fun we're properly dressed with parents properly dressed as well. The miserable families were the ones without cover for a stroller or dad who was "too manly" or something to wear anymore more than a sweatshirt that quickly got soaked. Gloves are also a lifesaver too. And invest a couple more dollars in the more durable ponchos. The garbage bag material ones don't last long!

Play it by ear and remember like other PP have said, there are many rides/entertainment to be enjoyed indoors. Also, there are counter service places to eat inside as well. Redd Rockets Pizza Port is mostly inside, located in Tomorrowland in Disneyland. In DCA, Taste Pilots has indoor seating, but it can fill up fast. If you need a quick break from the parks, you can also wander over to the Grand Californian and hang out in the lobby by the fireplace and warm up. Whitewater snacks is located in the hotel and if you haven't heard already, has some great food, which can also be enjoyed inside!

Have fun, and enjoy Goofys too! :goodvibes

We were there in Jan in the rain! Definitely invest in a stroller cove to keep your stroller and your 11 month old dry! We ordered a graco one off of Amazon for our double jogging stroller for $15! So worth it! Also, we had our kids wear rain boots and their ski jackets and ponchos. My son actually wore his ski pants because I thought it'd help keep him dry. They were both totally fine. My husband and I had full rain suits and I bought a pair of rain boots as well. Figued the small investment was worth it not to ruin even a day of our trip! Plus, we now have all this stuff!

I think the thing that will be hard with the 11 month old is holding him/her while you are covered in a wet rain poncho/jacket. I wonder if you could do a bjorn/ergo/sling under your poncho and cut it down low enough so baby's head would be out. Then you could use an umbrella while out in the rain. Just a thought.

The huge bonus was total lack of crowds for us! We walked onto everything. When it downpoured we tried to take a bit of cover. We had a great time and I came home saying I'll take rain over crowds any day! Like a PP said...there are a lot of things that allow you to be under cover for long periods so those are definitely good to think about especially if it isn't supposed to rain your whole trip.

Hope you have a blast!

Take it from someone who lives near Seattle, the rain will make Disneyland more enjoyable. Locals will not brave it and with some rain covers and proper shoes it is like an adventure. My kids love stomping through theme parks in the rain.

We were there last weekend with our 18month twins. It POURED - it wasn't constant but it poured when it did rain. We had rain jackets for the adults, and nothing for the kids - but we had a rain cover for the stroller. It actually was quite fun - there were no lines, the kids actually got to ride Dumbo, submarine, and Peter Pan with no lines that was great. When we got in lines, and had to hold the boys we unzipped our rain coats and held them so they were not against the wet raincoat - we only had a issue once with it actully poured on us when we were getting off a ride and that was interesting but the boys didn't get too wet.

I would say invest in a stroller cover - the rain ponchoes were blown off the strollers we saw using them, and the stroller got drenched when they were on rides. We had no issues, the boys stayed dry and they liked watching the rain come down - it also kept them pretty warm and suggley in there too. Plus when we were on the rides our stroller stayed nice and dry

JMO - Rain at DL is miserable. We have done it one time, without the kids and it was aweful. By rain I mean real rain. A mist or very light sprinkle would be tolerable. It was cold and wet. No fun.

It is still a little far out to even be a reliable forecast, try not to stress! Take some practical considerations and have fun.... Even if it REALLY rains you can always spend the day doing mostly indoor stuff.

well i think there are a number of variables that can effect your individual enjoyment. I for one have always still gone to the parks in the rain and never had much issues, however this past Dec I went to Disneyworld in the rain thinking it would be like California NOT!!! Normally in Cali the rain is not a constant pouring but these past few storms have been unbelievable for us in Northern Cali so I suspect the same for Southern. I've already decided if it does rain since i've been so many times we will find other things to do. no biggie. So just be flexible you may be fine the whole time or none of the time just be prepared for all scenarios.

Are you staying at DLH? If so, you will be right next door to ESPNZone. So if you feel compelled to not go to the parks, you could definitely kill some time playing games there!

But like the PPs said, it's still a few days away and the forecast could very well change, and/or the rain could be light or short-lived. Don't stress about it, because you can't change it anyway! Just arrive prepared - both with ponchos, a stroller cover, and umbrellas; and be mentally prepared! Note the good indoor attractions that the PPs mentioned, and you should be just fine!

Thanks!!
We will hope for the best.. We don't have much rain gear since we live in AZ. LOL

Thanks everyone...we can't wait to be at Disneyland!!
