Our family was at CEC last night for someone's birthday party.

You know those jungle gym / hanging from the ceiling big tube playsets? Well last night I saw a guy go up in one. No big deal I thought a first. Maybe his child got scared and he was going up to get him or her. But then, about 20 seconds after that, another guy went up the tubes.

So, I watched. Nope. These guys just went up there to play with thier kids. They were probably in / up there for 10 - 15 minutes.

I know that other folks were watching these guys. I think they felt like we did, that grown men should not be in confined quarters with kids that are not their own.

Later on as we ( wife and I ) were getting ready to leave I even heard someone - a mom - saying something about these two guys, and she wasn't all too happy with them.

I think it is great that they will get in there and play with their kids.

If they're playing with their own kids, I wouldn't mind...if they start playing with my kid...ummm...NO.

playing with their own kids...not a problem...if they started playing with others people's children, you probably would have seen a lot of parents calling their kids over to do something else.....

I voted ok since they were with thier kids. Who knows maybe they got stuck up there and it took them that long to get down. :rotfl: But how funny is this: we were also at CECs last night for a birthday party. There was a big group of teenagers there (like at least 15) and several of them were up playing in the tubes for a while. My 2-year-old went up there before I realized the teens were in there. I could not find him and I could see that the tubes were just clogged with the older kids. Another mom sent her son (5yo) to go up there and find him for me :rotfl:

Hey, grownups can have fun too. I think it's fine they were playing with their kids. I'm sure the kids got a big kick out of watching their dads. I've seen dads having more fun on Disney kiddie rides than their kids do. I see nothing wrong at all.

I've gone in the tubes many times to play with my kids. But I'm a small woman. It is really hard to go through some areas at 5'2", I don't know how some "guys" would have squeezed in there! I started doing it to fetch a friends child, since I was the smallest, kinda like drawing the short stick! :lmao:

not OK in my book. A little girl was molested in the tubes at a local McDonald's a few yrs ago.

I use to always go in the tubes and play with our kids when they were little, we had a lot of fun! My DH also went in a few times, I can't imagine being offended or thinking there was something fishy about it. :confused3

It's great that dads will take the time and bother to play with there kids. If these guys were up there playing with there kids then shame on all who critiscize. If it had been women that had gone up into the tubes to play with there kids no one would have said or thought a single thing. With all the stuff that we hear on the news these days it has caused people to automatically think in the worst way.

I voted not acceptable!

Good! I wish more parents were aware of the dangers their children are exposed too.

There are more appropriate places to spend time with your children rather than a enclosed play area such as at CEC. Play areas should be monitored and have height/age restrictions.

I agree that it is awesome that dads want to play with their kids. I just don't think that under these circumstances it was OK. Not just for the percerption of innappropraite behavior by the dads, but because it might worry the other kids. Maybe they would not like BIG PEOPLE up there with them - big people that they do not know.

ok good for those guys for playing with their own kids but I wont let mine up in one of those things ever again ( aside from the one at church because I *know* its gets clean!).

Cam came down the slide in one at McDonalds covered in someone elses poo! Some kid had done a job up there and Cam ( then about 3) crawled over it and it was SO gross!!!

I voted other, because, well....it's a children's place so adults really shouldn't play on the equipment. But! If adults played more and got back in touch with their child-like selves I think the world would be a better place. I love doing silly things like going down the slide at a playground, jumping in a big pile of leaves in the fall, etc. It lowers my blood pressure, makes me smile, makes me happy. I think adults should do kid-like things more often. :thumbsup2

I think those guys being in those tubes is very dangerous. Play tubes/areas like that are not designed for an adult's size and weight.

At a minimum, they were weakening the structure, and I'm surprised the manager allowed it.

Frankly, I'd be very annoyed if my 35 pound toddler had to share his "child's" play space with two 180-pound men. What imbeciles!

I've been to CEC and I don't think it is appropriate. It is definately not a "Discovery Zone" type of structure where the adults play too. This seemed obvious to me at the time, but I don't remember if they had signs posted.

I think a woman would take worse critisism. A dad is "just having a great time with his kids" but a mom up there, people would think that she just can't cut the apron strings long enough to let her kid play.

I think it is fine actually great that they were playing with their kids and those tubes are engineered to hold far more weight than that or they wouldn't be open. I hope they had on knee pads 'cause my knees always kill me after those things

It's been 2 or 3 years since I've been to our CEC, but the last time I went, they had signs welcoming parents to go in and play with their kids. I certainly wasn't the only parent up there. I usually only head up there when someone (mine or someone we are with' s child) is lost, crying, needing to fetch a sock (usually socks!), or there are big kids up there causing trouble.
