This is a press release from the FDNY.

Two Firefighters Injured In Vehicle Accident

UPDATE: Firefighter John Walters of Squad Company 288 is listed in critical condition and Firefighter Michael Schunk of Rescue Company 1 is in stable condition after being struck by a taxicab on Manhattan’s Upper West Side on July 19.

Firefighter Walters underwent more than 12 hours of surgery at Bellevue Hospital for severe injuries to his legs, both of which were fractured. Firefighter Schunk also had surgery at New York Presbyterian Hospital – Weill Cornell Medical Center for fractures to his right leg.

The firefighters were injured at the corner of Columbus Avenue and 71st Street when a taxicab rear-ended their fire truck.

I just got a chance to pop up here and saw this.

John Walters (the FF who is Critical) is one of my best friends, and actually the person who convinced me to buy into DVC. John bought into DVC around the beginning and owns at Old Key West. I bought into Boardwalk back in '99 after us always using up all his points on trips down there with friends ;-)

John is a HUGE Disney fan; (has the sorcerer mickey tattoo to prove it). You name a fact about WDW or DCL, and Johnny knows the answer.

Keep him in your prayers. The news media is underplaying the extent of his injuries, he's not out of the woods by a longshot.
