Has anyone ever flown to different airlines there and back?????

I have done that several times. Just be aware that because you are buying one way tickets that you will be marked for a more through security screening. Allow time for it and you will be OK.

Have you checked to see if 2 one ways are cheaper than a round trip ticket?

we're doing it in January. and the price difference is gonna cover breakfast for 4 at PSB and then some. JetBlue had the best price and times coming down and Delta Song had a sale on the seats on our return day. Yeah, they might search us more thoroghly going thru security, but it's still worth it.

ok. here is a list of what I have found...we need the smoothest ride...I am petrified of flying, only do it cause it is Disney!!!

Southwest 415.40 two round trip tickets
US Air 455.40 two round trip tickets
AirTran 353.40 two round trip tickets
United 445.40 two round trip tickets
Southwest one way UsAir other way 414.40

I really do not mind paying the extra money for a better flight. Has anyone ever rode Southwest????? I CANNOT do layovers!!!!! The whole taking off and landing has me wanting to....how do I out this nicely...throw up!!!!! I usually fly US Air, but with the bankruptcy thing going on I don't know what to do????????????? This is driving me

Smooth rides are going to depend on the weather aloft. Just keep in mind with Southwest you don't have seat assignments. If seating together as a family is important then be sure to check in early for an A boarding pass.

Looks like AirTran's the cheapest , and a RT to boot (or am I missing something?) Have never flown them, so no personal experience. Lately I"ve heard a lot of stories of US changing flight times, cancelling flights, etc.. Good luck!

I am doing this in February. We are flying out of Detroit on Southwest and returning on Spirit Airlines. I HATE layovers. Southwest doesn't go non-stop from Detroit, so I took the only flight that didn't require a plane change. I had a credit of $400 to use on SW, so I decided to go for it. I didn't like any of the return flights on SW, so I decided to book the return on Spirit, which is a non-stop flight. I've never done this before, but I'm not worried about it. They may spend more time screening us, but it's not like we are purchasing these one way tickets in cash at the counter. I can show them our return tickets if they want to see them. I have high hopes that it won't be a problem.

They don't care if you have return tickets at the TSA. Just having a one way ticket usually subjects you to extra screening.

The company I work for does this to save a few dollars so it happens to me a lot. Just allow extra time and you will be fine.

We will allow enough time for the extra screening. I have no problem with it. I'm GLAD they do it!!

Looking at your tag and your location says Northern Virginia. If you are anywhere near Dulles, remember also to check Independence Air (www.flyi.com). They fly direct from Dulles to MCO, and Dulles is their hub, so non-stop flights all over the place. Plug in your dates on Independence Air and see if they don't give you a better price.

With the passenger protections expiring in November of this year and Congress seemingly disinclined to do anything to protect us from Airline bankruptcies, I would be very hesitant to book USAir much past November. As it stands, the big legacy carriers are required to honor each others' tickets if one of them goes bust, provided their is space available on the flights (max $50 surcharge). AirTran is in better financial shape, SouthWest remains well-capitalized and profitable, and Independence Air has started up with a ton of capital and nice brand-new regional jets. Out of Dulles or elsewhere in Northern Virginia, I think I'd be inclined to try Independence.

Good luck!
